"Founded in 1973, the Sofía Imber Contemporary Art Museum of Caracas (known by its Spanish acronym, MACCSI) has gradually but continually grown. Currently, the Museum's sixteen-thousand square meters of space for the exhibition of Novecento art serve as the framework of a Permanent Collection of nearly three-thousand works. The supervision of the Museum's Director and Founder, Sofía Imber, has determined the selection of pieces of the highest quality — works by the great masters, the great leaders or pioneers of this century's artistic movements. Each piece, in and of itself, is valuable on account of its scope as a historical, formal, aesthetic and pedagogical model."
