Hall of Fame

The House of Blues recognizes authors and their fiction for their inspiring efforts, hard work, and determination. This isn't really an award, it's more of a recognition, and a whole lotta love from the people at the HOB. Each of these authors and stories were chosen by the three of us according to . . . well . . . just how much we've enjoyed them and have kept returning to read it over and over again. After all, good stories can't only be read once. We consider these fics PRICELESS, and absolutely memorable.

9/13/03 **September's featured author is Britanyca with her fic A Husband's Chance.

Baby Blues' Comments: With a dose of sophistication that some fics out there lack, Britanyca proved that with the right elements it's possible to write an endearing story about  a love fighting to be realized and captured. This fic definitely had me hanging on with its elegance and refinement; It was like fine red wine . . . that or a stroll at Rodeo Drive. Another one please, Bri!

Chad's Comments: I'd like to give high school seniors out there the heads up on this fic: If you're planning to take the SAT's anytime soon, I recommend that you read this fic which uses words like 'syborite', 'soporific', 'virago', 'profundity', premeditated', and my favorite 'pensive introspection'. :) My IQ increased after reading this fic, I swear. This fic had class and a mod style that not a lot of fics out there have.

AudBall Comments: Angel doing anything and everything in his power to seize Buffy's love gets and A+ with me and then some. As the others have mentioned, this fic unquestionably had a mature and feel to it and certain finesse. It was like reading a modern romance novel. Beautiful.

6/13/03 **June's featured author is Trixie Firecracker with her set of fics, the Goodbye Series.

Baby Blues Comments: Trixie knows her stuff. An awesome author with a knack of writing fics that play off a variety of emotions that comes straight from the heart and goes directly to ours, leaving us either teary-eyed or sobbing. She knows where it hurts, where it leaves us aching and bleeding . . . in a good way of course. And this series is just one of the many stories she has shared that carries an emotional baggage that leaves us with a watery smile . . . and an overload of used Kleenex. Hooray for Trixie!

Chad Comments: I'd just like to say that as a guy, I have learned many things from Trixie's fics: Utter devotion, loyalty, and brooding, begging looks to the woman you love can go a very, very long way. And my girfriend always melts into a nice, neat puddle whenever I give her those small crooked grins and that shy 'take-me-home-and-take-care-of-me' expressions that  Angel seems to always give Buffyin Trixie's fics. Oh, and  quotes that a guy like me always thought were pretty cheesy is not so cheesy when you're . . . yeah, never mind, but you catch my drift. Cheers for Trixie . . . Boo, I salute you.

AudBall Comments: Trixie never fails to accomplish what a lot of authors can't seem to capture . . . and that is the emotions that leaves readers breathless and grasping for something to hold onto as they lose themselves in a whirlwind of passion. In Trixie's universe, all is well in love and war . . . as long as you drown in sorrow . . .yet saved by faith and hope.

3/25/03 **March's featured author is Indie with her fic A Cleansing Fire: An Elseworlds Fic.

Baby Blues Comments: With all the angst and heartache, A Cleansing Fire: An Elseworlds Fic was the first piece of Buffy fiction I read while bawling my eyes out. The first version wrenched at my heart with it's excrutiatingly sad plot and the second version touched my soul even more with it's improved, yet still painful design and complexity. And though I've read this story a number of different times, this fic has never failed to seize my attention and intrigue me over and over again.

Chad comments: Angst and drama, a bloody soap opera . . . but a whole lot better . . . and then some :) Depicting the true nature and essence of real life heartbreak and tragedy, Indie illustrated the passion and ardor of two people experiencing the ups and downs of life that we, as real people, mayface in the future or have faced before. Whoa . . . that was gut wrenchingly deep *shudders*

AudBall comments: Indie wrote a dramatic suspense where she had captured Buffy's naivite and candidness and Angel's self disgust, and not to mention all his dark glory in the brooding department. Indie has proved that she belongs in the heirarchy of the Buffy Fandom Universe. In her world, Buffy and Angel lives on through the angst and sorrow, and I think it's safe to say that we're all grateful for that.

2/2/03 **Our first featured author would be Gia and her fic Buffy's LA Adventure.

Baby Blues comments: With a mixture of humor, romance, adventure, and a whole dose of naughty kinky sex, I would consider Buffy's LA Adventure to be one of my favorites. An awesome series with the right amount of ingredients to make one sexy fic to get the blood boiling. Each chapter sets off a different sense of intensity that makes readers eager and ready for more.

Chad comments: The first fic I've ever read with Buffy AND a stripping pole AND . . . a stripping pole. It left a rather nice image in my head, and that's awesome all around. I'll give you three thumbs up *cough* If you KNOW what I mean *LOL* *cough*. Okay, sorry, didn't mean switch into pervo mode *cough*. Moving on . . . I thought it was classic with each turn of events.

AudBall comments: This fic is definitely one of those fics that'll stick with you for a while. It had the angst that went straight to the gut, a certain quirky and sarcastic humor that made your lips twitch, a sense of hotness that caused more than eyebrows to lift (ex: Chad), and a world of sweetness that we can all appreciate in the end.
