This page is dedicated to Oakland A's third baseman, Eric Chavez.  Eric is the next in line of excellent A's thrid baseman.  Following Carney Lansford and Sal Bando, Eric has the third base position sewed up for years to come.  Chavez has already racked up several honors in his still young career.  They include 1997 California League All-Star, Southern League Player of the Month honors in both May and June of 1998, high school All-American, Baseball America's 1998 Minor League Player of the Year, 2001, 2002 and 2003 Golden Glove Awards and 2003 Silver Slugger Winner. Drafted with the 10th pick of the '96 Major Legue Draft, the A's first pick.  

Always labeled though the minors as all hit and no glove, Eric has proved that he excels at all levels of his game.  He's a three time gold glove winner, a silver slugger winner, and has two consecutivee 30+ HR and 100+ RBI seasons. At only 25 years old, Chavez has become one of baseball's best all around third basemen.

Eric Cesar Chavz was signed by Ron Vaughn on August 27, 1996...Graduated from Mount Carmel High School in 1996...was a two-time Baseball America High School All-America selction...was the only junior on the 1995 squad after batting .537 wotj 9 HR, 35 RBI and 51 steals and then hit .458 his senior season with 11 HR, 24 RBI and 33 stolen bases...participated in the SAFER progam, the Monte Carlo Classic to benefit Speical Olympics, the Community Fund Gold Classic and the Holiday Fest for needy families in 2000. Married, wife's name is Alex.
