ABC Wins Again Monday with "MNF"Overnight Ratings for Monday, December 7, 1998The Green Bay Packers + "Monday Night Football" = big ratings. Another Packer appearance on "MFN" helped ABC an easy win in the overnight metered markets with a 15.2 rating/22 share (12.8/19 last week). "Everybody Loves Raymond" and Ted Danson's comedy "Becker" gave CBS a second place finish with a 9.3/14 (10.2/15). The 9th annual "Billboard Awards" came in with a 9.1/13, ranking FOX third for the night. NBC was fourth with an 8.7/13 (8.8/13), The WB had a 3.8/6 (4.1/6) to come in fifth and UPN was sixth with a 2.4/4 (2.5/4). "Monday Night Football: Green Bay Packers at Tampa Bay Buccaneers" won every half hour from 8-11 for ABC, 15.2/22. The game peaked from 10-10:30 with a 16.6/24. Monday's game was the highest rated Monday night game since November 9th when the Packers played against the Pittsburgh Steelers, 15.4/22 (last week on "MNF: New York Giants at San Francisco 49ers" was a 12.8/19 from 8-11). "Cosby" returned at 8 on CBS, 8.1/12 (last week the holiday special "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" had an 11.9/17 from 8-9) "The King of Queens" improved to an 8.4/12 at 8:30. "Everybody Loves Raymond" jumped to an 11.7/17 at 9 (11.1/16 last Monday) and "Becker" had its best overnight ratings yet, 11.0/16 (the previous high for "Becker" was its premiere on November 2, 10.5/14. Last week "Becker" was a 9.7/14). "L.A. Doctors" continues to struggle at 10, 8.2/13 (8.5/14)."The 1998 Billboard Music Awards" drew a 9.1/13 from 8-10:20 on FOX (last week "Melrose Place" was a 7.2/10 at 8 and "Ally McBeal" had a 10.7/16 at 9). NBC ran a movie special "A Champion's Fight: A Moment of Truth Movie" from 8-10, 8.0/12 (last Monday at 8 "Suddenly Susan" was an 8.4/12, a second "Susan" at 8:30 had an 8.9/13. At 9, "Caroline in the City" slipped to a 8.3/12 and "Will & Grace" fell to a 7.4/11 at 9:30). In the 10-11 hour, "Dateline NBC" averaged a 10.2/16 (10.1/17). On The WB, a repeat "7th Heaven" generated a 5.3/8 (5.6/8) at 8. "Hyperion Bay fell to a 2.4/4 (2.7/4) at 9. "Malcom & Eddie" attracted a 3.0/5 at 8 on UPN (3.0/4 last week).
