The Abandon Catch

It was the end of the day for the shrimp boat fisherman, going home again today with nothing to show for his long exhausting hours of fishing was nothing new to him, so with a shrug and curse under his breath he tossed the net one more time.
Venda was always curious about the shrimp boats that came to the cool waters of her home to toss one net after another in search of a big catch, but this time Venda's curiosity took her alittle to close to the huge vessel and she got entangled in the large net. The more she struggled the more it entrapped her, pulling her along just under the water. She franticly twisted and turned until a huge old tree stump seemed to reach out a grab her away form the clutches of the fisherman.
With a heavy sigh the fisherman mumbling in disbelief as he hacked away at the rope of the net finally freeing his self. He pulled up anchor and slowly puttered off into the distance.
Venda listened to the roaring of the engine until it became a faint rumble  before she dared to move, but it was no use Venda was so entangled in the net she couldn't free herself.
I wonder if that fishermen had known what a “Big Catch” he had in his net. Would he have been so hasty to cut that rope!

Thank you for sneaking a peek at my newest little “Curious Mermaid”. Venda and her display started out as lumps of clay and with a lot of patience and dedication she was then transformed into an incredible One-Of-A-Kind “OOAK” work of art. No molds were used in any part of this creation.

“The Abandon Catch” is another offering from Believe in Fairy Tales collection.
Venda and every part of her display has been meticulously sculpted by hand by me, Darla Hilton, The total height of the display is 12" by 8” deep and 10” wide.
Venda has long light brown Tibetan lamb hair, and hand painted blue eyes.  Her beautifully detailed body has been sculpted over a strong wire armature. Her upper body's flesh colored skin has been left unpainted with only a touch of blush for a natural realistic appearance; her lower tail has been painted with blues and greens. Her fin is transparent, and sparkles with beautiful colors. She has meticulously sculpted tiny individual fingers with nails.
