22LR_CBCAP

This was a small ballistics test I ran in my basement. I was interested in looking at the penetration of a CCI 22 short CB CAP. I fired CB Cap into two 1/2” plywood sheets.(to see how they compared with pellet gun shots)

After doing this I photographed the bullet holes, and dug out all bullets and looking at the amount of deformation they sustained.

22 Short Exit Holes in 1/2” Plywood

22 Short Entry Holes in 1/2” Plywood

22 Short Dents in the 2nd plywood sheet. (they were dug out of this wood.

The Photo below shows some of the bullets taken from the 2nd piece of playwood. Notice the stock unfired bullet in the center as a reference. (NOTE: This bullet was deformed by the tooled used to pull it from its case.)

More of the same as above below. (NOTE: This bullet was deformed by the tooled used to pull it from its case.) The deformation of these bullets may not seem we high as expected. But one must remember that these were fired from a very low-velocity CCI CB CAP Short round.
