Koch: simply a cut above the average closer
DUNEDIN, Fla. - BILLY KOCH has an angry crescent of scar, perhaps five inches long, on the inner curve of his money elbow.
``Happy,'' Koch says, crooking his arm, the scar assuming the smile position.
``Sad,'' he says, bending the arm up over his head and turning the scar upside down.
The subject was the famous ``Tommy John surgery,'' which is on the agenda now for Atlanta's long-time standout righthander, John Smoltz.
