Once upon a time, in New York City in 1941...  at this club open to all comers to play, night after night, at a club named "Minton's Play House" in Harlem, they play jazz sessions competing with each other.  Young jazz men with a new sense are gathering.  At last they created a new genre itself.  They are sick and tired of the conventional fixed style jazz.  They're eager to play jazz more freely as they wish then...  in 2071 in the universe...  The bounty hunters, who are gathering in the spaceship "BEBOP", will play freely without fear of risky things.  They must create new dreams and films by breaking traditional styles.  The work, which becomes a new genre itself, will be called... "COWBOY BEBOP".

3, 2, 1, Let's Jam!  The music of Cowboy Bebop is one of it's most important and unique aspects.  Like the show itself, the music varies in style and content.  The songs range from frantic jazz numbers, to heavy metal, from fast paced piano pieces, to passionate vocals, and then there is the occasional spaghetti-western harmonica tunes.  I can't recommend the music enough!

The music was arranged and composed by Yoko Kanno, creator of the memorable music from such series as Vision of Escaflowne and Macross Plus.  Most of the music was performed with the assistance of the Seatbelts, a group of musicians gathered by Yoko Kanno.  Many of them worked with her on previous anime soundtracks.  For Cowboy Bebop, they gave themselves a new name and created a new identity for themselves.  There are several Cowboy Bebop CD's out, and if you enjoy the music from the series they are a definite buy.

In this section, you'll find session title analysis, track listings from the Cowboy Bebop soundtrack CD's, song lyrics, and anything else that can serve to highlight the exceptional music of this outstanding series.
