Jedi Eclipse
Author: James Luceno
Setting: New Jedi Order
Series: Agents of Chaos
Rating: 4/5
Plot: The Yuuzhan Vong are aiming for their next
attack after a failed attempt to destroy the Jedi Knights. Using their Hutt allies as ways of deceiving
the Republic, the true target is hidden under covers of crucial
information. The New Republic is
reinforcing the independent Corellian sector in hopes of trapping the Vong
fleet and launching an all-out counter-offensive on them. It all comes down to a matter of who’s
tricking who.
Review: Luceno does a great job wrapping up his part
in NJO. Jedi Eclipse was well-written,
though the dialogue kinda confused me at times (like Anakin explaining his
refusal to fire Centerpoint was more like avoidance than an explanation) While Jaina is mentioned at times, you never
really read into her part of the story.
In fact, if my memory serves me right I don’t think we really see her
doing anything useful in the Agents of Chaos series. Instead of him disliking the character, I think it probably is
due to the fact that he doesn’t do starfighting too well. When it is done it isn’t as intense as other
authors, but overall, the book and the series was well worth the reading.
