Rebel Dawn
Author: A.C. Crispin
Setting: After Hutt Gambit
to right before cantina scene in A New Hope
Series: Han Solo Trilogy (Book
3 of 3)
Rating: 4/5
Plot: Rebel Dawn wraps up the
Han Solo Trilogy. It was pretty cool to
see exactly how Han won the Falcon from Lando. He and Chewie go through some more smuggling
adventures (including rescuing Han’s girlfriend from the Maw). Bria Tharen turns out to be a real pain in
the ass to the Empire, and unfortunately to Han and his buddies after a
successful attack on the planet Ylesia.
Review: The book was very well written, but what
really held it back was the fact that the series was just getting stale (I’ll
explain) Han meets girl, Han falls for
girl, Han dates girl, Han breaks up girl one way or the next. In a plus side, we finally get to see
probably one of the more interesting characters come full out, Bria Tharen, of
course. Probably the only thing that
saved the book was her character. Too
bad about the ending. Overall, a decent
ending to a good series.
