Rogue Squadron
Author: Mike A. Stackpole
Setting: Two years after
Return of the Jedi
Series: X-Wing (Book 1/9)
Rating: 5/5
Plot: Wedge Antilles sets out to rebuild Rogue
Squadron. As he struggles to keep the
ace pilots alive, Ysanne Isard, current leader of the Empire, is plotting to
crush the Rebellion once and for all.
Ther destiny’s all meet at one place, Borleias, the only link for the Rebels
to Coruscant.
Review: Despite it supposedly being based on the
game Xwing, this book is probably one of the best examples of how space combat
should be in Star Wars fiction. The
characters are well presented, especially Corran, who probably goes down as the
most badass guy in Star Wars (cept Jar Jar :p)
Stackpole has a unique writing skill in that it’s almost like Zahn but
thrown in a bit with Kevin J Anderson.
Easily one of my favorites.
