Jim Shaw and Bob James will be running various chess camps and mini-camps throughout the year. For information on their upcoming camps, e-mail either Jim or Bob and they can let you know what is happening.
Dates and places for upcoming tournaments have not been determined. As they are established, they will be posted here. Tournaments will be held as close to the last Saturday of the month as possible depending on holidays, local scholastic events and State events. Our goal is to have one Open tournament a month.
Suggested Tournaments: We are looking at many different tournaments. One major plan is to begin The Corpus Christi City Championship. We are also looking for other possible ideas and types of tournaments. If you have any ideas, please e-mail Bob James and send your ideas.
Friday Night Scholastic Spectacular! Beginning January 4, 2002 South Texas Chess Associates will begin a regular Friday Night teaching/tournament time. Teaching will include a 30 minute lesson on a particular area followed by a tournament game. The tournament will be a four round tournament with one game being played each Friday night unless personal, State or National events make such a session impractical.
Each group will be limited to 20 participants. Some groups may be invitational, and others will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Please check back here for more information and a schedule as it becomes available.
