GLENAFTON ATHLETIC
 VS. ARTHURLIE

An entertaining game finished all square with the sunshine geaming off the plastic pitch at dazzling Dreghorn. It was the Barrhead side that burst out of the blocks and went ahead after three minutes when a long ball over the top of the Glens defence was picked up on the left flank and flicked over the advancing Ally Semple into the empty net. The Glens responded well and Jose Quitongo was giving the 'Lie defence the run-around and it came as no surprise when the Glens drew level on 14 minutes.  A corner kick from the right was won in the air by Chris Merrilees and new signing Andy Ferguson gathered the ball on the six yard line and shielded it from the Lie's central defensive pair allowing Gareth Armstrong to boom the loose ball home. The good work was almost undone immediately when the Glens conceded a penalty and although Semple was sent the wrong way the ball stuck off the base of the post. The Glens continued to press and were rewarded on 28 minutes when a splendid solo effort from Armstrong. Bo burst into the box, turned and flummoxed the pursuing defender before angling his shot between two central defenders and the goalie at full stretch into the top corner of the goal. HT Glenss 1 Lie 1
The Glens almost added to their tally in the first attack of the second half but the keeper pulled off a fine save. The 'Lie began to come more into the game as the half progressed and on 70 minutes a free kick was headed home from close range by Craig Malcolm. Having used their three substitutes the Glens were reduced to 10 men when the impressive Steven Reilly had to depart through injury and was soon to be joined by David Clapperton. The 9 were restored to 10 when the injured Jamie MacDonald, who had been substituted earlier was allowed to return. The last 15 minutes saw some Alamo defending from the Glens with great saves, goal-lines clearances and a John McLay header crashing off the bar. FT Glens 2 Lie 2
