BIOGRAPHY

I'm a 67 year old American male, born in Oklahoma City June 21, 1944 and raised in Chickasha, Oklahoma. Wild as a peach elm boar when I was younger. Last 40 years I have resided in Columbus, Indiana. I've worked in the oilfields of Oklahoma, Texas and Wyoming. First as a floor hand then as a derrickman. My youth was spent driving trucks hauling grain from Liberal, Kansas to Houston, Texas. I delivered a load of bailing twine from Houston, Texas to Ft. Smith, Arkansas. Took a load of watermelons from Cotulla, Texas to Denver, Colorado for Safeway Grocery Inc., where they were placed on the railroad to deliver back to Cottula! Delivered a load of mattresses from Chickasha, Oklahoma to Rolla, Missouri. Then I transported produce to New Mexico, Colorado and Missouri. One time was a migrant worker; picking tomatoes, potatoes and PRUNES in Oregon. Once I hoed, picked and chopped cotton in Oklahoma and Mississippi. Pitched hay bales, worked the harvest and drove wheat combines in Oklahoma. Shoed horses & mules in Colorado and worked at The Arapaho Hunt Club in Littleton, Colrado. Have been an apprentice embalmer and an ambulance driver too! Also I was an assistant grocery manager, sold insurance for Mutual of Omaha and Allstate Insurance Company. So, I sincerely believe that I've been there and done that!

Wrote two western novels; CLEARWATER(76,694 words-276 pages) and MERCER'S MANOR(95,799 words-333 pages). There is no profanity in either. They are published by SYNERGEBOOKS in paperback and electronically on the Internet. Both novels are listed by Wal-Mart Online, Amazon, Borders, Books-A-Million, Bookswelove, Barnes & Noble on the Internet. A hint: When I wrote MERCER'S MANOR, I had in my mind's eye, Tom Selleck as Dan Mercer, Sam Elliott as his side-kick and Reba McEntire as the love interest. This way keeps me from having to take notes! I am also a member of Books we Love, Eighteenhundreds, Batholomew County Writers, and Authors Den.

My wife commented that I was not content. I beg to differ with her. There are the three "C's": covetness, contentment and complacency. I do not COVET other people's things, I believe in working for what I possess. I am CONTENT with what I do have, but I hope that I will never become so COMPLACENT as not to want to have more. Received an Honorable Discharge from Uncle Sam's Mean Children on January 9, 1964.

While shoeing horses and mules on a dude ranch in Mancos, Colorado I met my wife, Laurel Ann Mastenbrook. After 30 minutes asked her to marry me. I will be the first to admit I was a tad slow, but I did have to know her name first! I am a strong believer in setting my priorities. August 1st, 2011 we will celebrate our 42nd wedding anniversary. Oh Joy!!! What Rapture!!!(I like those words!!!)

We are members Reddington Rebels church of Christ in Reddington, Indiana. The following pictures are of our daughter's (Heather & Lawrence Wells) wedding and of course myself. Everything is about me and mine! Two newspaper articles; one about me DYING three times in an automobile accident. There are also three letters; a letter to the editor over me supposedly breaking a "LAW", another letter over disabilities and one about the Bobby Vee Concert. Please read my articles, letters and look at the pictures. I have a sister, Deborah Ruth Kramer who with her husband Joe Kramer own and operate a restaurant in Columbus, Indiana. So, "Eat at Joe's - "KRAMERS RESTAURANT"! August 1, 2011 we celebrate our 42nd year wedding anniversary! March 15, 2004, I won the 1st Game to Fame contest. The 1st online reality contest, Game of Fame. The prize was an all-expense trip to Hollwood where I met with various writers of the "Law & Order" series on TV, independant movie producers and screenplay people. All to promote my two western novels! Then on February 15th, 2005 I was invited back to help celebrate the next two winners; Cassi Rissa (Game 2)& Christine Phillips (Game 3) at the ultra chic House of Blues in Hollywood! I met the actors of the Survivor Austraila, Katey Doyle and others. Had a wonderful time! I recently found out that both my novels, CLEARWATER & MERCER'S MANOR, are now in ebook form available on Kindle, Android, IPhone, etc., etc. READ & ENJOY!!!

SUMMARY

An action novel of a condemned man, who escapes from "death row", goes to a small town in the Indian Territory. There he kills three men while robbing the lone bank. Fleeing across the Red River, he teams up with Mexican bandits. A retired Pinkerton operative, missionary outcast and an Indian scout enter the story. The bank's president, the town's aging sheriff and a gentle giant of a blacksmith enhance the story line. The "posse" of the town's citizens pursue the culprit. It's not long when you wonder who are the "bad" guys and who are the "good" guys! An exciting climax comes when the killer and his gang return to town for further reward. The colorful characters are appealing to men, women and teenagers.

"You're sure the bank has the money?" a squeaky voice asked. "I seen 'em bring it in this afternoon," a deep voice replied also in a muffled tone of voice. "We just mosey to the front where the vault's at, I place the nitro. BOOM! We sahshay over and clean out the vault. Then we waltz out the front door and high tail it to the border. Just live high off the hog and have pretty señoritas at our beck and call. We'll have enough money to have 'em do what ever our little ole hearts desire!" "I can hardly wait 'til that bank clerk sobers up in the morning only to find his key missing!" the whimpering one cackled. The two intruders entered the back door and started to the front. They came abreast of where David was hiding. The convicted killer reached out and quickly pulled the man's revolver from it's resting place in the holster. "What...?"

MERCER'S MANOR

SUMMARY

MERCER'S MANOR is a historical action novel set in 1865. The story revolves around the exploits of an ex-Union cavalry officer, Dan Mercer. The Civil War finally over, he heads west after release from Andersonville Prison in Georgia to California. Trying to escape an approaching storm, he rides furiously on the plains of the Indian Territory and finds shelter. There he meets a beautiful young woman named, Glory, who tries to steal his horse! As they travel together they strike up a bond between them, they become separated and in his search for her, he has several adventures including fending off marauding Indians. After several years of unsuccessful searching, he is approached by the secret service via the U.S. Marshall's office to help them with a case they are dealing with regarding to a serious counterfeit currency operation. Agreeing to help them, he is shocked to find that the person that the government is trying to expose is none other than the girl he has been searching for, Glory! Now he has to decide whether to help the secret service to capture her. Or maybe warn her that they were on her trail! Finding her trapped in a blazing building, it appears that fate has taken a hand. Or has it?

The novel is laced with exciting people, therefore making it appealing to men, women and teenagers. An excellent romantic / adventure western

"Storm clouds were starting to build in the western sky. These dark clouds were momentarily illuminated by lightning streaking across the horizon. Suddenly it flashes. Streaks of lightning were stabbing the ground. Brilliant shafts of light were quickly follwed by ominous sounds like the booming of heavy artillary shells. The knee high grass was undulating on the praire like the waves of an angry sea. It was early summer and storms were plentiful on the plains. Rabbits were scurrying to their burrows, deer racing to the safety of the forests and birds were busily tucking their heads beneath their wings. Every thing and everybody was getting prepared for the approaching storm. Leaves were starting to turn in the trees, which were bowing as if in obeisance to the lone horseman, their limbs lowering humbly."

(Hint: When I was writing Mercer's Manor, I envisioned in my mind's eye, Tom Selleck as Dan Mercer, Sam Elliot as his side-kick and Reba McEntire as Mercer's love interest. (It helps me to remember these people so I don't have to take as many notes!)
