Will of Horatio Finer (1801 - 1859)

 

This is the last will and testament of me Horatio Finer of No. 48 High Holborn in the parish of Saint Andrew Holborn in the county of Middlesex. I hereby revoke all former wills by me by me at any time heretofore made I hereby nominate and appoint my cousins John ffiner of No. 9 Harley place Bow Road, Middlesex and Jonathan Duthoit of Hentwell Lodge, Highbury Road Park Middlesex to be executors and administrators Joint Executors of this my will. I direct that all my just debts and funeral and testementary expenses shall be paid with all convienient speed after my decease I give and bequeath to my house keeper AmeliaWood, wife of John Wood the sum of Thirteen pounds nineteen shillings and in case of her demise in my lifetime I give and bequeath the same sum unto her daughter Amelia Wood Spinster I give and bequeath unto Horatio ffiner Balls of Bermondsy Surrey the sum of thirteen pounds nineteen shillings I give and bequeath to my sister Louisa Widenham fifty preference shares No. 1 in the eastern Counties Railway Company and ten twenty pounds shares ordinary stock in the same Railway Company and also two hundred and fifty pounds five percent preference stock in the Great Western Railway Company I give and bequeath unto my niece Louisa Theodosia Adams, Wife of Thomas Adams of Lombard Street in the City of London the Ground rents of seven house situate in Westfield Terrace Rotherhithe New Road Surrey numbered 8 to 14 inclusive of the annual value of twenty six pounds or thereabouts also my plate linen china glass and books and two hundred pounds five percent preference stock in the Great Northern Railway Company I give and bequeath unto her daughter Louisa Theodosia Adams, Spinster Two hundred pounds five percent preference stock in the Great Western Railway Company I give and bequeath unto my nephew Thomas ffiner Widenham of Lombard Street aforesaid seven hundred pounds stock in the Midlands Railway Company I give and bequeath unto my nephew George Widenham Six hundred and fifty pounds four and a half percent preference stock in the Great Western Railway Company I give and bequeath unto Lucy Turner otherwise Lucy Keep daughter of Esther Keep formerly Esther Turner now of No. 90 East Street Manchester Square Middlesex Three hundred pounds four percent stock in the Great Western Railway Company and three hundred pounds ordinary stock in the same company free from legacy duty I give and bequeath unto Henry Lycett of No. 115 Goswell Street Road Middlesex, Jeweler two hundred and eighty three pounds six shillings and eight pence four and an half percent preference stock in the Midland Railway Company and two hundred pounds ordinary shares in the same company free from legacy duty I give and bequeath unto his mother Catherine Lycett one hundred pounds share in the Midland Railway Company free from legacy duty I give and bequeath unto his brother Thomas Lycett one hundred pounds stock in the Midland Railway Company free from legacy duty I give and bequeath unto my cousin John ffiner of Harley Place Bow Middlesex one hundred pounds shares in the in the Great Western Railway Company and to each of his six children one hundred pounds stock in the Great Western Railway Company I give and bequeath unto my cousin Jonathan Duthoit one hundred pounds stock in the Great Western Railway Company and to each of his five daughters one hundred pounds in the same company I give and bequeath unto my cousin John ffiner of Tendring and Little Bentley in the county of Essex and to each of his eleven children one hundred pounds stock in the Birmingham and Derby Midlands Railway Company I give and bequeath unto my cousin Clarissa ffiner one hundred and fifty pounds stock in the Great Western Railway Company I give and bequeath unto my cousin Frederick ffiner one hundred pounds stock in the Great Western Railway Company and to each of his three children one hundred pounds in the same stock I give and bequeath unto the Treasurer for the time being of the Charity Schools of Saint Andrew Holborn now situated at No. 45 Hatton Gardens in the same parish of Saint Andrew Holborn aforesaid for the better support of the said schools one hundred pounds stock in the Great Western Railway Company I give and bequeath unto the Treasurer for the time being of the Royal fleet Hospital situated in Gray's Inn Road in the parish of Saint Pancras Middlesex for the better support of the said hospital one hundred pounds stock in the Great Western Railway Company and I direct that the receipts of the Treasurers for the time being of the aforesaid Charities shall be sufficient discharge to my executors I give and bequeath unto Miss Elizabeth ffulford of High Street Dowling Surrey thirteen pounds nineteen shillings I give and bequeath to the overseers of the poor of the parish in which I may die for the benefit of the poor thereof of the sum of ten pounds and as to all the rest residue and remainder of my Personal Estate of whatsoever kind or description the same may consistat the time of my decease I give and bequeath the same unto my niece Louisa Theodosia Adams, wife of Thomas Adams and my two nephews Thomas ffiner Widenham and George Widenham absolutely to be equally divided between them share and share alike I desire to be buried in the ground I have purchaced adjoining Trinity Church Gray's Inn Road or in any other place which my executors may deem convenient should the ground above mentioned be closed or not be opened at the time of my decease In witness whereof I the said Horatio ffiner the testator have to this my will written on one page of foolscap paper set my hand this seventh day of August one thousand eight hundred and fifty seven.
