"I have read many articles posted on this
web site about privatizing MTA bus and rail service and now have to speak
out! First of all we already have subcontractors providing bus service
for the MTA in the form of ATE and Charterway's. I personally have seen
how these two agencies are run, and let me tell you it's a disgrace! All
they are concerned with is Profit Profit Profit! No concern for the public
who rides their buses (or should I say MTA's buses, because they are painted
identical to MTA's buses). They don't fix anything, most of the rear doors
are unsafe or don't work, wheelchair lifts don't work, as for Air conditioning,
HA! what's that? their theory is run till it breaks and give it back to
the MTA, because they will give us good ones to replace these, after all
they don't want us to fail, because if we fail it will ruin their master
plan to sub out all their service and will eliminate their special interests
like Ryder or Laidlaw a.k.a. ATE and Charterways and Foothill. MTA pays
for their fuel fluids and provides them will Buses probably at a $1 a month
lease. Give me all that and not have to pay for the Gateway and it's projects
and I too will probably make a profit. WAKE UP PEOPLE! Privatization is
not the way to go, it was tried in the past and when all the special interests
sucked it dry they filed bankruptcy and gave it back to the county. That's
how we came to be. We all make good money and that's the fact. If we stand
by idle while Riordon and his MTA cronies sub out all our work, a few will
be rich and allot will get peanuts while we all look for jobs, loose our
home's, file for bankruptcies and go on unemployment."
