The Secret behind the Teacher Key
You walk into your classroom, and the children are having fun.  Their face is glued to their calculator screen as they rapidly press some buton and their arrow pad.  You know they must have some game; but didn't you outlaw games in your classroom?
As you walk up to the students, they quickly press a key.  When you check their calculator, there is no game on the screen.  What's more, when you look at their program listing, their is no game in sight!   What is the deal!  The students just pulled one over on you.
Obviously, they were playing games.  What some programmers add into their games is a little command for a "teacher key".  Although there are different ways of doing this, it simply puts out a getkey command, and when the certain key is pressed, the game exits to the home screen, or even displays work on the home screen.  On top of that, some OS's like MirageOS for the TI83+ and  Doors for the TI89, hide the program from the normal program listing.  And, if you do by chance find their programs and delete them, arcrecov for TI83+ and Tictex Explorer bring the programs back from the dead!  In essence, students who know what they are able to do cannot be stopped from having the programs they want to have.  Just take their calcs if you are suspicious of cheating.  Their is no real answer to getting rid of programs.
