Biogenesis
If you're interested in X-Files merchandise and can't wait for the next update of Paper Clip: The Australian X-Files Merchandise and News Resource (profuse apolgies for that!) here's a site that probably has the most comprehensive list of what's available, including Australian exlusive releases -- The X-Files Merchandise Specialist. The site has news of the upcoming Biogenesis release plus three other videos that will be released on February 16. They will be from season three: "Clyde Bruckman's Final Repose/War Of The Coprohages", "Pusher/Jose Chung's 'From Outer Space'", and "Wetwired/Avatar".

The X-Files Merchandise Specialist is an excellent Australian fan-site, not a commercial site, so check it out.

Gillian Anderson Message
If you haven't checked out the Official X-Files website lately, there's a holiday season message from Gillian Anderson at http://www.fox.com/thexfiles/xmas.htm.

The Mighty
The Mighty was the Video Pick of The Day in The Daily Telegraph a few days back. I've got to say that I agree. I finally managed to see it last Monday and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Gillian Anderson's role is small but she does an excellent job.

Starlog Reporter
issue # 5 of Australian magazine The Starlog Reporter, with a cover date December 1999-February 2000, is now available. It contains 10 pages of X-Files news (much better than the previous issue) including interviews with Chris Carter, Vince Gilligan and Mitch Pileggi.

Trivia: Biogenesis will be released in the UK as File 14 - in Australia our File series stopped at #12.

Blockbuster
Advanced warning that the February 2000 issue #40 of Blockbuster Magazine will have an interview with Mitch Pileggi and some X-Files giveaways including autographed Mitch Pileggi merchandise.

Harsh Realm
After a tough year there may be some good news for Chris Carter. The FX network in the US has picked up Harsh Realm (cancelled by Fox after just three episodes were aired) and it will be screening all eight episodes that were filmed and is considering reviving the show, dependant on the settlement of a court case with Harsh Realm (the comic) writer James Hudnall.

X-Files 2000 Calendar
Dana confirmed that McGills in Melbourne (see below) does indeed have the X-Files 2000 calendar. She bought the second last one for $29.95.

TV Week
Skimmed through this week's TV Week today and noticed a two-page story on celebrities views on the new Millennium. Chris Carter and David Duchovny were both included along with a pic. Both thought there wouldn't be any major catastrophies when the clock ticks over to 01-01-00 while David Duchovny pointed out it's not really the start of a new millennium until 2001!!

There was also a review of The Mighty which was the video pick of the week, receiving four stars.

Playing By Heart
Fiona on ausxfnews says that Playing By Heart (featuring Gillian Anderson) will be released on video on February 15.

Weekly Update
Hey, I'm still here ... just that there's no news to report. So if you know something please let me know :-)

From Angie on ausxfnews: This week's New Idea has a full-page spoiler from one of the season seven episodes including some blurry video grabs. As is my policy, I won't provide any details here. If you must know, go look in your local newsagency. The same spoiler was mentioned on my local radio station this week in their Dirt Alert segment.

Not positive, but I think David Duchovny was on Thursday's Entertainment Tonight, talking about his Return To Me movie.

The X-Files Movie
According to Ange on ausxfnews, The X-Files Movie will be released on DVD for $31.50 sometime in January 2000.

New Weekly
From Joanne, ausxfnews.
Last week's New Weekly (cover date December 13) had a picture of David Duchovny, Tea Leonie and baby Madelaine in the back section. David and Tea were walking down a street holding hands and Madelaine was in a baby carrier strapped to David's chest. The caption said:
David Duchovny and Tea Leoni appear unfazed by recent reports of a marriage rift. The couple and their baby daughter Madelaine rug up and go Christmas shopping on Madison Avenue in New York. As reported last week in NW, David is rumoured to be having an affair with his Return to Me co-star Minnie Driver, after being spotted sneaking into a cinema and kissing in the back row, and gazing into each other's eyes from seperate tables at a restaurant.
The End and The Beginning
The season six X-Files episode guide, The End and The Beginning, has been released in the US and can be ordered over the internet. No word on when it will be released in Australian bookstores.
Thanks Steph, ausxfnews.

Weekly Update
There's been nothing much happening in the land of The X-Files for the last week and even if there had been I've been just too busy to update in any case, what with work, Christmas parties and looking for a new house in a different town...

Anyway, the meagre scraps of news to pass on include an appearance by Mitch Pileggi on the Laws show (on Foxtel) on Wednesday which I heard about after it had already screened. Thanks Irini on ausxfnews.

The northern New South Wales town of Guyra had it's own mystery this week that would have been worthy of an investigation by Mulder and Scully. An Unidentified Flying Object was seen to crash into the town's water supply, with flattened reeds the tell-tale sign of the impact site. However when divers were called in to scour the dam nothing could be found save for some small rock fragments thought to be the remnants of a meteorite. The UFO was initially thought to be a large piece of space junk but maybe the Men-in-Black got there before the divers could investigate!

The X-Files 2000 Calendar isn't available in local stores this year but Kim on ausxfnews tracked down a store that will order it for you from the US. Try McGills - Australia's Greatest Technical and Specialist Bookstore, 187 Elizabeth Street, Melbourne, Victoria, 3000. Telephone (03) 9602 5566; Fax (03) 9670 2849 or internet www.mcgills.com.au. Alternatively, Clare found it for $US12.95 at Amazon.com which equates to about $A20.50 plus postage.

From Adam:
At the Kings Comics shop on Bent Street, Fox Studios, you can buy some limited edition Official X Files Magazines direct from America. You can purchase The X Files Official Magazine Yearbook for Season 6 as well as the latest ordinary issue of the official magazine. There are several other magazines with some reference to the X Files available.

Robert W Goodwin
Yesterday's Sunday Telegraph (Benelongsection) had a story on former X-Files producer-director Bob Goodwin (who's an Australian) suing Dreamworks for shutting down his sci-fi miniseries Taken.

Fox Studios, Sydney
Wondered exactly what X-Files content the recently opened Fox Studios has? Clare visted and has all the details.
... There was a bit of X Files stuff. In the Hall of Cool Stuff, there were props from the movie. Gillian's chair back, their badges, Scully's cross, sunflower seeds, Scully's autopsy equipment, their watches, evidence from the Dallas bomb and a mobile phone to name a few of the stuff. Then in the TV Tour, they have Mulder's (and Scully's) office with an intro by Mitch Pileggi. And if you listen carefully, you can hear the X Files theme occasional when walking around the park. They have some X Files memorabilia, but nothing fantastic.

The November issue of Movieline has reached our shores and has a section of black and white photographs - including a full page shot of David Duchovny. DD also makes the magazine's Most List as "The Most Unlikely Star of a Romantic Comedy", referring to his upcoming Return To Me movie.
