All about us..... In 1989 we purchased our first show hopeful.....a flashy brindle dog which we believed with our "untrained eye" would be our first champion. We wanted to do everything "right" so first we had to come up with a kennel name......we thought of about eight or nine names but we wanted a name that nobody else would try to copy. We came up with the name Caldora......one which we felt would be ours because we took the first three letters Cal from our last name,
Calbert then we took the last four letters from my maiden name of Doran. Thus giving us the name of Caldora....... Now that we had a kennel name, we needed to name our new puppy. We tried to think of a name fitting a beautiful flashy brindle male that showed "promise". After several weeks, we came up with the name Caldora's High Flyer for the reg- istered name. We then gave him Ace for his call name. We were on our way! We had a lovely brindle male who seemed to love the show ring and everyone associated with showing. He really had personality. We started showing him at the age of 6 months.
We really didn't know that we were technically "spinning our wheels". After a couple of months, we realized that we had just given him the best experience he could get. He was shown consistantly those first couple of months and became a real "ham". Ace would get so excited about going to a show that all you would have to do is say "Ace, want to go to a dog show?" and he would race up the stairs to the bathroom and jump in the tub and sit and wait for you to come up to give him a bath. Ace had a nice show carreer (we as beginers were excited about it). He has to his credits 4 Best of Breeds, 3 Best of Opposites, 5 Best of Winners, and numerous Reserve Winners. During his show carreer, he was expertly handled by several handlers. They are Pam Kunke, Harold Tippie, Johnny Johnson, and was finished by Genine DeMasso. Ace was 3 1/2 years old when he finished. He was shown selectively when he matured.
We are sorry to say we lost our "beloved" Ace 1 month before his 12th birthday to Degenerative Myelopathy. He made us proud and gave us many years of happiness and "unconditional" love. His daughter Fergie, was 2 months short of her 13th birthday when we "helped her to the Bridge". Fergie was as "playful as a puppy" until just a couple of days before she left us.
We have come a long way in 28 years. Most
of our knowledge came from "hands on" experience. We have been
very blessed with healthy dogs, and have struggled and
sacrificed alot to fulfill our passion for the Boxer breed.
We are proud of our accomplishments however small they may be, and we are always aiming to produce the "most perfect specimen" we can possibly produce without sacrificing temperment and health. In fact temperament is a key factor in our breeding program. If we were to find unsound temperment or ill health in a dog, it would absolutely not be bred.
As far as our future, we are still striving for excellence. We are planning breedings that hopefully will give us the "ultimate specimen".
