A message from the co-founders of CGE
The California Glass Exchange is about to meet for its 18th year! It was originated at San Jose State University in 1984 as a forum for students, practitioners, collectors and teachers who share a common interest in the medium of glass on the West Coast of the U.S.A. In the beginning, C.G.E. was totally funded by contributions in the form of a yearly conference fee, resources shared by various sponsoring institutions of learning, gallerys, museums, studios both public and private, and mostly due the generous donations of time and expertise of artists associated with this medium. It has been an extremely rewarding experience to see how the Exchange has grown and become a viable entity in the exchange of ideas about glass and glass art on the West Coast.

About CGE
The California Glass Exchange is a regional glass exchange of ideas and
information started over twenty years ago by Robert Fritz of San Jose State University.
The event known as the "California Glass Exchange" is hosted usually once a year at a California school that has a glass program in place. San Jose State and Ohlone College are hosting this year's exchange and details of the event are on the "2002 Glass Exchange" page. Last year the exchange was hosted by San Bernadino State, the year before at Chico State.
CGE is a "not for profit" group of glass educators, artists, students, enthusiasts, and collectors, who enjoy exchanging ideas and techniques related to glass art.
CGE offers students and local artists (who might not be able to travel to distant Glass Art Society meetings) the opportunity to exchange ideas, meet other artists, and learn about new and exciting innovations in the glass art field.
