As many of you have probably already heard, the WB has lost their bid on the
Buffster. That means anyone who used to watch the show on a WB affiliate
will no longer be able to do so. Instead, Buffy is going to be shown on
UPN, which apparently has less coverage and a smaller audience. However,
they have promised a larger budget and more freedom, but we'll see how that
goes. The WB still has the rights to Angel for two more years, but they can
cancel it at any time. However, the UPN has agreed to pick up the show,
should the WB terminate its contract.
Now, what does this mean for Canadian fans?
I received this response from YTV:
If you want further information on the move, there are a million news
stories out there, although a lot of them have been removed by now.
I received this response from CKVR:

We own BUFFY for the duration of the series. Our fall schedule is not set
as yet, so the time slot may change, but rest assured, BUFFY will be here on
The New VR.

Hi there!
Thanks for writing to YTV. 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' currently airs on
Saturday at 8pm E/P. Although we can't speak for other networks we can
assure you that we currently hold the rights to Episodes 79 to 100 of Season
Five. We do not know what will happen with the series next season, as we
have not yet acquired another contract, but we will continue to air the
episodes that we hold the rights to at this time.
Thanks for watching
