 Biographical Information

Photo of Cavalier ConsortCavalier Consort was formed in 1994 and specializes in the performance of instrumental music of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. This period instrument ensemble is composed of instruments from diverse groups and includes lute, theorbo, viola da gamba, cittern, baroque violin, baroque guitar, and recorders. The members of the Cavalier Consort are very active in the field of early music and often perform with other groups and as soloists. Because of the groups special interest in Virginia history, they have often performed at historic sites such as the Lynnhaven House, Francis Land House, Adam Thoroughgood House, Historic St. Luke's Church, Bruton Parish Church, and the Wren Building in Colonial Williamsburg. The Cavalier Consort is based in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia, and presents a concert series there each year. They are also the ensemble-in-residence at Chowan College in Murfreesboro, North Carolina.
