Quick and Easy 3D Text for Web Pages, Presentations, and Business Documents
Ulead(R) Systems, Inc., a leading developer of Windows-based imaging, video and Internet software, today announced "Cool 3D," a new 3D text tool that quickly creates bold, attention-getting text for business documents, presentations, and web pages. With full support for Intel's MMX-processor and Microsoft's Direct3D, Cool 3D renders photorealistic 3D text faster than any competing 3D tools on the market.
Built around a unique user-friendly interface, Cool 3D removes unnecessary and complicated 3D modeling, providing a 3D solution that everyone can use and understand. Now, users simply type in their text of choice, select a TrueType font, the move the mouse to rotate and spin the text in three dimensions. To help get started, Cool 3D provides Ulead's powerful EasyPalette(TM) which visually organizes hundreds of pre-set extrusions, bevels, light sources, camera views, surface textures and animations. Through Pick-and-Apply(TM) editing, users simply drag-and-drop presets onto the text for worry-free results. The presets can even be customized and then added to the EasyPalette for future use.

With support for Intel's MMX and Microsoft's Direct 3D, Cool 3D instantly renders 3D text on the screen, in real-time. The five levels of display and output quality offer users maximum freedom in getting the best-looking results quickly, and the 99 levels of Undo provide security and encourage exploration. When finished, users copy and paste their results into Word documents, PowerPoint presentations or Front Page web pages to add real impact and dynamism to their work. Because Cool 3D is fully OLE2-compliant, double-clicking on a Cool 3D object launches the Cool 3D application for quick and easy editing. When it comes to creating web pages and banner ads, users can output Cool 3D text as a single GIF image or as an animated GIF file -- all in one easy step with options for color reduction and transparency. Cool 3D also allows users to save their work in a variety of image formats, such as TGA and JPEG, as well as create video (.AVI) files.
Cool 3D requires Microsoft DirectX 2 or DirectX 3 run-time library (the latest version is available from Microsoft's web site) to run the program. A time-based trial version of Cool 3D will be available in late June from the Ulead Systems web site, www.ulead.com, as well as leading ESD resellers, including BuyDirect.com, On-line Interactive, and Software.net.
