Battle Arena Toshinden Game by Takara Reviewed by Myau84 Myau84@aol.com Size: 4 megabits Save: None Released: 1995 Works with: All Game Boys Opening Snide Remarks: I played the PSX version of this game on a demo back in 1995. It was pretty fun. You can get this for just $10 at Toys 'R Us. Description: This is your usual fighting game. There's 8 characters plus bosses. Each has their own storyline when you play (they're pretty cheesy). Scenes are included, which only show one image and a dialog box. Gameplay: BAT is a simple fighting game. You can get some high combos (or beats, as they're called in this game) by simply mashing buttons. I once got an 18 hit on accident. You can easily beat the computer by doing the same things over. The AI isn't all that good. Matches don't last very long. Graphics: The graphics are pretty decent. Each character has some detail. The images shown in the scenes are nice. One thing bothers me though; before each new screen appears (title, versus, select, etc.) the game seems to "load". I wish this could have been fixed. Also, the dialog goes by way too slow. Some grammar mistakes were made too. Audio: The audio is average. Nothing real big, just the same sounds throughout playing. Replay Value: If you get into this game, you'll probably be playing a while. It provides some fun, probably better for younger players. It may seem repetitive to others. Final Analysis: Fighting games will probably get their $10 worth. Don't expect a Killer Instinct or Street Fighter 2 though. This game is very easy and was probably intended for kids. If you want a simple fighter, then pick this up. Overall Gameplay: 7 Graphics: 7.5 Audio: 7 Replay Value: 7 Final Score: 7
