Batteries Batteries by Panasonic, Rayovac, Energizer, Duracell, Nintendo, Supervolt, Doller General, and Everlast. Reviewed by The Avardancer Sizes: AA and AAA Time it took to compile data for this review: 3 Months. Opening Snide Remarks: You may be wondering: "Why on earth is he reviewing BATTERIES? Well, this review took a while to make; so don't diss it! In fact; if you want on the go action on a Gameboy; chances are... you buy BATTERIES. Here's a run-down of the BEST and the worst. Impressions: I use my Gameboy Color an average of at least 5 hours a day. My sister has a Gameboy Pocket; I control the batteries in the house; so I know when she needs batteries. And I compile information from the different brands together. Here is a list of the best. Liked: The batteries that come free with the system upon purchase (Panasonic and Nintendo) last close to the "recorded" time in the manual. Gameboy Pocket is supposed to last 10 hours, Gameboy Color lasts 10 hours, Original Gameboy lasts 32 hours. Let it be known that the batteries that are provided usually last a little longer than their suggested length. Energizer and Duracell batteries are close to each other in terms of length. Duracell (Normal ones) actually last LONGER than "Advanced Formula" Energizers. Normal Energizers last longer than Advanced Formula Energizers. The newer "Longer-Lasting" Duracell batteries, the more expensive ones, actually do NOT last longer in comparison to the "older" batteries. All you pay for is the fancy packages. The BEST batteries I have seen on the market are "Energizer Lithiums". The Lithium Batteries (Mainly made for cameras, CD players, and Cell Phones.) are THE BEST batteries to buy; they cost about a buck more for two lithiums; than you would pay for normal Akalines. But they last the longest. My Gameboy Color lasted over three weeks on ONE pair of the Lithium Batteries. Lithium is the way to go. Lithiums are used in Clocks as well. Lithium just lasts the longest. If you pay $4 for a Pair of Lithiums; than you are actually saving about $6; because One Lithium has the lifespan of 4 or more Akalines. The boxes says: "Lasts twice as long"; that's false advertising. The Lithiums last about "Four times as long". Hated: Rayozacs; they may be rechargeable; but they don't start out with a good charge to begin with. The Nickel-Cadium batteries flat out suck. They don't save you money on electricity. I also dislike those Doller Store Batteries like "Supervolt", "Everlast", and the Doller General Brand. Final Words: Lithium is the way to go. Although Lithiums are a bit tough to find in stock. When you find them; those are the batteries to get. You can save money by buying Lithiums. Although; Nintendo insists on people using Akaline Batteries; Lithiums do work. But; like any battery, a faulty Lithium can damage your system; just as a faulty Akaline can. Don't leave batteries in your Gameboy if you do not plan on playing it for a few months. (Although why you would do that is beyond me.) Score: N/A
