Bugs Bunny Carrot Crazy 3 Game by Kemco/Nintendo Reviewed by The Avardancer Size: 8 megabits Save: Password Released: 1999 Works with: Any version of Gameboy **************************************************************************** Opening Snide Remarks: Well, I saw this game.. and having spent a little time with the previous two games (Not enough for review, mind you. Just enough to know what's up with them.); I decided to buy this game. The game's plot has to do with a hidden treasure in an old castle. Witch Hazel, who kidnapped Honey Bunny in the first two games, has cast a spell on Bugs' pals to make them stop Bugs Bunny from finding the treasure. Okay, that's all very hokey and raises the question of what happened to Honey Bunny, and why is Bugs running around with that Lola girl now? **************************************************************************** Gameplay Descripion: This is an "avoidance" game. You don't avoid the game; you avoid the enemies. (That's the best course.) Of course you can kill them with items like bombs, cork guns, etc. (Kill the ones that chase you....) You search through huge levels for keys. Lots of intelligent, yet stupid, enemies chase you as you try to find the 8 keys in each level and get to the exit. There are 60 levels to play through. :) They have different lay-outs, tricks, traps, etc. Lots of fun. The game is hard in spots. But you get lots of lives and you even get to kill characters like Tweety, Daffy, Sylvester, Taz, Foghorn Leghorn, and more. (Okay, the books says "stun"; but I prefer "kill"; because you'll feel like that when you get trapped.) You can go right through the enemies in spots if your quick and use a pipe or door. (Very looney.) The plot involves Bugs Bunny trying to find a treasure inside an old castle. How cheesy; but at least no one got kidnapped. The game is fun and it's a real challenge. The cute theme is not an issue. No, any game that lets you blow up Tweety is not cute in my book. :) Liked: The avoidance gameplay, puzzling maze-like levels, and the fact that there are 60 of those levels. :) Hated: Umm. Getting trapped; even if it is my own fault. **************************************************************************** Graphics Description: Read carefully, you may only see a line like this once in your entire life: "I wish the cinema scenes looked as good as the Gameplay screens." The colors in the actual game are bright, detailed, and plain gorgeous. One of the BEST looking games yet. Very cool. Anyways, the characters animate well and look like they're supposed to. The cinema scenes are okay; but not as colorful as the in game graphics. The background changes colors as the levels progress. (Day turns to night.) Very varied graphics. You won't see a level and go: "Didn't I just play this?" Nope, this game has excellent graphics. It does suffer a little from blur on a normal Gameboy. It looks like the previous two in black and white. Play it in COLOR! This game was made for Game Boy Color. Play it on Game Boy Color. Liked: Umm. everything! Hated: That Game Over screen. It's nice looking; but still..... **************************************************************************** Sound/Music Description: Music is fun and "bouncy". Not dramatic or annoying in anyway. But it is very cool in it's ability to be well composed and long. Thankfully, the sound is accurate too. Nothing is muffled. :) Liked: The music and sound. Long songs, I can actually recall. Hated: Umm. It may be too hapy for some people? **************************************************************************** Play Control/Game Design: A well designed game with a mixture of platform gaming, avoidance, and puzzles. The game has simplistic control that has a small learning curve. But, it is pretty easy to get into. You can not jump; but you don't need to if you are smart. The levels were designed by evil looney people. Supreme design and concept maps are in effect here. :) The game is HUGE; but it does not have a save battery. It has passwords. :( Liked: The unique gameplay and challenge coupled with good play control. Hated: No battery save. **************************************************************************** Improve: Animated cutscenes and a battery save for the next one, please. :) RIYL: The first two; or a good challenge. **************************************************************************** Final Words: Get looney with this excellent game. The game has NOTHING to do with Twouble or Carrot Crazy. It's made by Kemco. (They brought us Shadowgate and Top Gear Pocket.) Thank you Kemco. Go buy this game. It's worth getting a Gameboy Color for. (Hey, Kemco... can you count to four?) **************************************************************************** Score Gameplay: ***** Graphics: ***** Sound/Music: **** Play Control/Game Design: ***** Personal Opinion: ***** Total: 24 out of 25 Final Score: 96% **************************************************************************** Currently Known Codes: Level 60 (With 56 lives.) = 97X3GW
