Chase H.Q. Game by Taito Reviewed by Robby Cox koi@magicnet.net Size: 512 Kilobits Save: None Released: 1990 Works with: all Gameboy versions **************************************************************************** Opening Snide Remarks: This is the import version of an arcade classic. I loved the arcade version of Chase H.Q. I really liked the fact that to defeat the enemies you had to slam your car into theirs. It's very reminiscent of a cop show. **************************************************************************** Gameplay Descripion: Chase H.Q. is a very unique game. It's a driving game, but it's not a racing game. Each level starts out with an announcement that a wanted crime boss is on the loose. The point of the game is to find the boss' car and slam into it with your car until his car explodes. There are obstacles that impede your progress including innocent cars and rocks. Liked: Ramming the bosses. Hated: All of the tracks pretty much play the same. **************************************************************************** Graphics Description: Chase H.Q. is a sweet-looking game. The cars are large and well-detailed. The tracks are cool-looking, as well, but there's really no difference between tracks. Liked: Large cars. Hated: Repetitive background graphics. **************************************************************************** Sound/Music Description: Chase H.Q. has some pretty good music and sound fx. Liked: Good music. Hated: Nothing. **************************************************************************** Play Control/Game Design: Chase H.Q. has some great controls, but I dislike the fact that you have to press "UP" on the joypad to accelerate. There's another control scheme but the accelerator is located in the same place. The game design is pretty good. The levels are pretty much the same. Liked: Pretty good level design. Hated: My thumb gets numb after one level because the accelerator is in such a stupid location. **************************************************************************** Improve: Add customizable controls. RIYL: F-Zero X, Extreme-G **************************************************************************** Final Words: Chase H.Q. is a great game. Even though this is the import version, there's not a bit of Japanese text to be found. Don't shy away from this great game. **************************************************************************** Score Gameplay: **** Graphics: **** Sound/Music: **** Play Control/Game Design: **** Personal Opinion: **** Total: 20 out of 25 Final Score: 80 % **************************************************************************** Currently Known Codes: None.
