Caeser's Palace Game by Arcadia Reviewed by Adrock gbcam@hotmail.com Size: 512 Kilobits Save: None Released: 1990 Works with: Any Game Boy **************************************************************************** Opening Snide Remarks: Gambling is a sin. But if you really want to, and want to see what it's like, or they won't let you in cause you're too young, try this game. **************************************************************************** Gameplay Descripion: Play is conducted by the point of a cursor. You will start each game session out with $1000 dollars in chips. Then, you move the cursor to the part of the room that you want to gamble at. There are video poker machines, one armed bandits, a roulette table, all that good stuff. One of my favorite gambling simulators of all time would have to be Vegas Stakes for SNES. It had great digitized graphics, and lots of colors. It even had story elements. For example, a guy would come up to you and ask you to hold his ticket for him while he ties his shoe. If you do it, he swipes your cash. If you don't, he walks away, and you keep playing as usual. Caesar's Palace doesn't have anything like this. But, if you don't really care for that, and just want a good old gambling simulator without any distractions, then try this game. Liked: A good game for people who just want to virtual gamble. Hated: No story elements. **************************************************************************** Graphics Description: The game looks quite good. If you went home broke, you'll see a bus that comes to pick you up. But if you hit it big, you'll see a more luxurious ride. The menu system and map screen is easy enough to see on any version of Game Boy. The detail on the machines and the characters was well done. Liked: Good graphics with detail and funny material. Hated: Nothing in particular. Some areas of the game were more detailed then others. **************************************************************************** Sound/Music Description: The Beastie Boys quote in their song "Three Mc's and One DJ" that Kenny Rogers' "Gambler" is their gambling theme. Well, the songs in this game would probably not be a likely candidate for their enjoyment. The song that plays on the map screen gets annoying... Real fast. Other songs are average par. One of the Sound FX that stands out is flushing the toilet. You see, if you click on one of the bathroom doors, you will go up to the door, and then you'll hear a flush when you press A. Everyone got a laugh out of that. To say the least, turn it down during play. Liked: FLUSSHHHHH! Silent at the tables or at a machine, which is good for concentration. Hated: Map screen song is dumb and annoying. Average lackluster songs. **************************************************************************** Play Control/Game Design: Control has been kept simple. Just click on the coin slot to start play. Point and click, it's easy. Liked: Easy controls. Hated: Cursor is slow. **************************************************************************** Improve: More cool stuff, and story elements. RIYL: Gambling, Vegas Stakes (GB or SNES). **************************************************************************** Final Words: CP2 is coming out soon for the Game Boy Color. Maybe this game will get re-released? You may find it for a cheaper price after CP2's release. If you want to keep it cheap and simple, go with this game. If you don't like to gamble, then don't get it. **************************************************************************** Score Gameplay: *** Graphics: **** Sound/Music: ** Play Control/Game Design: ***** Personal Opinion: *** Total: 17 out of 25 Final Score: %68 **************************************************************************** Currently Known Codes: Click the restroom doors for a pleasant surprise. (You can go in both the Men and Woman's restroom? What the heck?)
