Donkey Kong Game by Nintendo Reviewed by Robby Cox koi@magicnet.net Size: Save: Battery with three save slots Released: 1994 Works with: all Gameboy versions Opening Snide Remarks: I used to love the arcade version of Donkey Kong. I owned and loved the Atari 2600 version of both Donkey Kong and Donkey Kong Jr. I just hope the Game Boy version can live up to my expectations. Gameplay: This version of Donkey Kong plays a lot like the arcade version did but also adds a lot to the mix. You have to collect keys, flip switches, and use hammers to complete the levels. You are trying to rescue the Princess who has been kidnapped by Donkey Kong. This is not an easy game by any means. Graphics: The graphics in Donkey Kong are great. They take the graphics found in the arcade version to a new level. Mario looks great in this game, as does everything else. Sound: The sound in Donkey Kong is arcade perfect. It's old-school sound to go with an old-school game. It fits perfectly. Music: The music in Donkey Kong is excellent. The music is even better than the music found in the arcade version. The music really keeps you pumped to play the game. Play Control: The control in Donkey Kong is arcade perfect and then some. The controls are easy to grasp, but yet tough to master. When you make a mistake, you only have yourself to blame. Final Analysis: Donkey Kong is a great game that no Game Boy owner should be without. If you loved any other incarnation of Donkey Kong, then you would do well to add this classic to your collection.
