Final Fantasy Legend 1 Game by Square Reviewed by Marowak (Normally a Marowak Pix) Size: 512 kilobits Save: Memory-backed, 1 slot. Released: 1989 Works with: All Gameboys **************************************************************************** Opening Snide Remarks: For the longest time, I couldn't beat the outside world. Yes, the first world. But, now, I have beat it. Average way I beat games. Especially when I don't have the manual like this time. **************************************************************************** Gameplay Descripion:the everyday RPG story... Save the world. There is a AWESOME twist at the end that you NEVER would expect, and the HUGE varity of enemies, Monster transformations, Party types, and Weapons to try will keep you playing. I think I'm on my eighth trip to the top. Liked:Awesome story twists and easy battle structure. Hated:I got to AT LEAST the 12th floor before I realized pressing Select will let you check the party order. Tough-to-understand menus. **************************************************************************** Graphics Description: Normal veiw is REAL nice. Rolling clouds and sand, Cool futuristic bikes, wavy oceans. But battle view... Most people would quickly bash this part, seeing as how the only animation is when you attack enemies. THAT is what makes the animation so good: Ever see the |#|Flare? Cool, huh? Liked:Almost everything, but mainly the special effects like |#|Flare and the Split apart-effect when you killl bosses. Hated: no other animation during battles. You can't even see enemies attacks! **************************************************************************** Sound/Music Description: Pretty good for an old game. Liked: Boss and Ultimate Boss(I won't tell you who that is!) music. Hated: Most overworld tunes are too short. **************************************************************************** Play Control/Game Design:If your first and only RPG is Pok`emon, You are DEAD. It's tough, very tough. But hey, if you have experience with tougher RPGs, you stand a chance. And battle scenes are VERY simple. But if you mess up with the last player's attack, you don't have time to fix it. Liked: Pretty easy to get used to. Hated: Room for 8 attacks is a lot better than Pok`emon, but STILL forces you to constantly waste time going from (Abil) to (Equip) so players can use healing items out of battle, and weapons in battle. **************************************************************************** Improve: Let humans gain at least 1 or two stats when they battle, since purchasing only 8 to 1 attribute-increasers can make it take forever. And add more monsters. And humans who can use |#|-abilities. Mutants only have room for four. RIYL: A must-have for serious Game Boy RPGers, or any, for that matter. Note to self: purchase FFL2, FFL3, FFA, and FF3(SNES game). Final Fantasy fans will like it. **************************************************************************** Final Words: VERY good for a game as old as it is. Real gem. **************************************************************************** Score Gameplay: * * * * Graphics: * * * & a half Sound/Music: * * * * Play Control/Game Design:* * * * Personal Opinion: * * * * * Total: 20 & 1/2 Final Score: 82% **************************************************************************** Currently Known Codes: Sound test: hold Down, Start, B, and press A
