GOLF By Nintendo. Review by The Avardancer Size: 1 Megabit Released: 1989 Save: Battery, 2 slots Use with: Any version of Gameboy Opening Snide Remarks: I bought this game because it was only $15 and there weren't any new cds. I wondered how it would be when I popped it into my Ice Blue Gameboy Pocket and turned on the power. I mean, GOLF, how fun can that be? Gameplay: Here's the answer: VERY FUN! The simple nature of GOLF is by far the best. This is great GOLF. It's strangely addicting and you want to improve your score. You learn quickly what clubs to use. (The Putter is useless in the rough, fairway, and bunker.) You actually feel like your learning how to play GOLF. (I learned how to keep score.) I wish there was at least one more course. Two courses is okay. (That's about 36 holes.) This game is very addicting. I like it. There's a two-player game link mode that's pretty good. Graphics: They do the job on any version of Gameboy. (They look really good on Super Gameboy.) There's enough detail to make it seem pretty real. It's pretty good stuff. Pop it into a Gameboy Color and you the default pallette makes it look almost full-color. :) Sound: Lots of different sounds. There's a pretty distinct sound when you hit that far drive and it lands in the water, plops in the hole, hits a tree, or whatever. Music: There's not much music; and what is there is utterly forgetable. But, the music is almost just an added feature in this game. GOLF doesn't need music. Play Control: Shots could get tricky if you didn't read the instructions. But, if you have any clue of what you are doing; then the control is perfect. Final Analysis: This is one of the best games that I've bought on a whim. If you like sports; you'll like this. Even if you aren't a sports fan; then you may still like this. (I'm not a sports fan. But, I like this game.) Don't pay over $25 dollars for it. (Make sure you get the amazingly in-depth instruction booklet.)
