Game & Watch Gang (1 and 2) Game by Nintendo Reviewed by Marowak Size: G&W1: 4 Megabits. G&W2: 8 Megabits Save: Both have Batteries and a cool "Interrupt Save" function. Released: G&W1:1997. G&W2:1998 Works with: Any Game Boy. **************************************************************************** Opening Snide Remarks: They said It couldn't be done! Ha! Okay, no one said anything. I DO know, however, I'm writing the FIRST 2- in- one game review on DMG ICE! But to make things easier to read, anything below with a GW1 in front of it is specific to the first game ONLY. Same with GW2 (Second game only). No special notes means it is in both. Understand? PS: Some information may be wrong, I haven't got 1,000 in GW1, and I only have 55 Stars,14 In GW1, 41 in GW2. **************************************************************************** Gameplay Descripion: Something here for everyone. At least ONE of the games will be your instant fave and quite likely, 3 others, as well! Hammers hitting Mario & Wario on the head... Hammers hitting Moles... Hammers hitting Boos... and some non-hammer related things, like giant Octopuses, Falling people, and Yoshi holding a pair of tennis rackets. And you will discover that, contrary to your first guess, There seems to be one or two little things in most games that changes, completely, the way things end up. Liked: Simple. On easy. Normally. Challenge at every game, no matter HOW simple at first, slowly Increases to the speed of light. It may even slow down to zero speed JUST when you get used to super-fast, ending THAT attempt. That should teach you not to get used to things! Hated: On Hard (GW2: or Star) Mode, things may START out too fast for the average gamer to keep alive in, and speed STILL increases, leaving you wondering if all that effort was worth it! **************************************************************************** Graphics Description: Classic versions are the EXACT same, so no improvements in any way to them. But the Modern ones are really good and slow down very little, even IF eighty things are falling, flying, smashing and bashing around the screen at once! Liked:Little slow-down. GW1: adapts well to color in most schemes, and isn't half bad in Black and White! GW2: Good use of colors. Wario still has a red nose, even if it IS 3 pixels big! Hated: Think you could have added ANIMATION in the Classic games? **************************************************************************** Sound/Music Description: Like I said before, Classics are the same as always, and that means no musicin them! Modern have music, though. It's nice and jumpy or gloomy, but too short for the time needed for High-Scores. Let's not even get INTO the little "Blip"s used for Sound Effects Liked: Music expresses the games well Hated: What, Is this the bad catagory? Classic has no music, Modern tunes are short, and I've NEVER heard a hammer hitting a Fly Guy go "Pl-koink". Then again, I've never heard a hammer hit a Fly Guy PERIOD! **************************************************************************** Play Control/Game Design: Games follow Tetris Attack- like Design: Simple to learn, Fun to play, Easy to start, Near impossible to master winning. Players move the very SECOND you press a button, except in one or two cases. Liked: Simple button pressing. Left. A. Right. Right. Oops, Maybe I should be a little more careful... Hated: Nothing!! **************************************************************************** Improve:Add some of the games seen in the Gallerys! Green House could be interesting... RIYL: If you like one, Buy the other quick! If you like those little hand-held one game only units, you better go buy at LEAST one! **************************************************************************** Final Words: Good, Fun, Enjoy! Both are good. **************************************************************************** Score Gameplay:* * * * Graphics: * * * Sound/Music: * Play Control/Game Design: * * * * * Personal Opinion: * * * * * Total: 18 Stars. Final Score: 72% **************************************************************************** Currently Known Codes: GW1: None. GW2: play as Wario in helmet: Start Helmet and get killed off. Choose retry. MWA-HA-HA!
