Kirby's Blockball Game by Hal/Nintendo Reviewed by Adrock gbcam@hotmail.com Size: 8 Meg Save: Battery, 3 slots Released: 1996 Works with: Any Game Boy **************************************************************************** Opening Snide Remarks: Like what Kirby's Pinball Land did for Pinball, this game does for Arkanoid and Breakout. **************************************************************************** Gameplay Descripion: Ok, same deal here, just get Kirby to hit those blocks. There are also enemies and stuff. Power-ups. Bonus rounds. You get the drill. Liked: OK game. Probably more fun then, say, Alleyway (respectively.) Hated: You must get a "borderline" score to win the final parts of each level. It's tricky. **************************************************************************** Graphics Description: This game looks perfect on a Super GB. Probably where most of that 8 Megabits went is into the color scheming. I liked the color choice and the cool frame. You know what to expect from this game if you have ever played Dreamland on GB or Adventure on NES. The warp stars are there, apples, lollipops, you name it. Liked: Awesome SGB color use and frame. Hated: Anti-cute people will not enjoy it much. **************************************************************************** Sound/Music Description: Well, I liked the music during choosing your file. It was pretty sweet. The songs will have you humming at the dinner table after a good gaming session. And the FX, well, they were well thought out I thought. Liked: Good Music and FX. Hated: Some of it is recycled stuff from the other games. **************************************************************************** Play Control/Game Design: The screen is so friggin small that it's hard to get the ball going at first. Additional paddles on the ceiling and stuff has helped in aiding you on the final blocks of a stage, but not by much. Liked: Tightened (or loosened, whichever way you want to look at it) just right. Hated: That dumb last block. **************************************************************************** Improve: They need to make more arcade elements, this game felt slow and boring. RIYL: Alleyway, Breakout, Arkanoid **************************************************************************** Final Words: Just another game on the shelf. **************************************************************************** Score Gameplay: *** Graphics: **** Sound/Music: *** Play Control/Game Design: ** Personal Opinion: *** Total: 15 Final Score: %60 **************************************************************************** Currently Known Codes: Get first place score on Level 11 to open up a Bonus Practice.
