Kirby's Pinball Land Game by Hal/Nintendo Reviewed by Adrock gbcam@hotmail.com Size: 2 Megabits Save: Battery, 1 slot Released: 1993 Works with: Any Game Boy **************************************************************************** Opening Snide Remarks: It's Kirby and he is stuck in a big pinball machine. He rolls up into a little ball and you can hit him against flippers and bumpers. (Don't worry, it won't hurt him.) **************************************************************************** Gameplay Descripion: To make this more interesting, I will throw some haikus at you about the gameplay (the easiest kind of poetry for me.) Your basic pinball Three tables with Kirby themes Plus bosses also. The tables, way small You'll mess up a whole lot, man since there is no room. But, they keep it fun with lots of awesome bosses way interesting. Did you almost die? You will have a chance again just press A real quick. Sonic Spinball, huh? It was brand new when this came But Kirby crushed him. Liked: Fun game, different from most games. Something new will fit you quite nice. If you fall out of the last table, you will land on a platform, and if you press A fast enough, you will launch back up, keeping the game in play. But it wears down the platform after a while. Hated: Tables are ultra small with big huge bumpers and stuff, but they are multi-layered. Bosses will get you PO'ed in no time, it's almost impossible to get all your hits in without warping. **************************************************************************** Graphics Description: Compared to the old first gen game "Revenge of the Gator", a similar game of pinball, the graphics look a lot better. The Kirby theme remains intact, and fans of Dream Land will enjoy them. Liked: Good graphics with a cute look and bosses. Hated: Everything is easy to see (that's what makes playing it tough.) Maybe they could of had bigger tables, with a zoomed in look to Kirby. **************************************************************************** Sound/Music Description: The "select table" screen had an awesome track, with a weird beat, like rap. It sounded like Fatboy Slim meets Nintendo. Heh. All the other music mostly is recycled stuff from the first Dream Land game. The FX were weird. Liked: Nice music and FX. Hated: Mostly recycled stuff. Some of the FX sounded weird. **************************************************************************** Play Control/Game Design: Left is your left flipper, A is your right flipper. Huh? Well, I guess that is cool. You can tilt the table. Cool. Liked: Easy to pick up. Hated: I didn't like the control of that boost-up thing when you fall down. **************************************************************************** Improve: Bigger tables, more tables, smaller bumpers and objects. RIYL: Kirby, Revenge of the Gator. **************************************************************************** Final Words: If you are looking for something like nothing else on Game Boy, try this game. **************************************************************************** Score Gameplay: *** Graphics: *** Sound/Music: **** Play Control/Game Design: *** Personal Opinion: *** Total: 16 out of 25 Final Score: %64 **************************************************************************** Currently Known Codes: Play The Bonus Games: On the Title screen, press LEFT, B. and SELECT at the same time.
