Kirby's Dream Land 2 Game by Hal/Nintendo Reviewed by Adrock gbcam@hotmail.com Size: 4 Megabits Save: Battery, 3 slots Released: 1995 Works with: Any Game Boy **************************************************************************** Opening Snide Remarks: Kirby 1 got rave reviews in my book! Let's see how it goes with this sequel! **************************************************************************** Gameplay Descripion: Kirby is back and he has new friends, Coo, Rick, and Kine! Coo, an owl, lets you float in the air. Kine, a fish, lets you breathe underwater in his mouth. And Rick, well... he's just a cute hamster that you ride on the back of. Like Mario has his Yoshi, Kirby has his Rick. Huh. Kirby has special powers now, like he had in Kirby's Adventure. This works like so: He swallows the enemy that he wants power from, (exp. fire shooter), then press down. And he gets the power of that certain enemy. There's lots of different enemies to get power from, but not all of them give you power. The big deal of the game is to get the Rainbow Drops back from Dark Matter. The game plays similar to Kirby 1, with a litter looser feel, but it is much longer. This was one of my problems with the original Kirby, and my prayers have been answered in the sequel. There are multiple endings, bonus games, sound test, tons of replay value in this game. You'll love it man. Liked: Awesome, tops KDL1. Hated: No problems. Level shortage has been taken care of. **************************************************************************** Graphics Description: Wow! Another game that looks totally awesome on a Super GB! The Kirby games always do. It also looks good on a Color GB. Awesome! Cooler looking enemies and stages this time around, too. Liked: Graphics are very splendid. Cute, but splendid. Hated: No gripes. **************************************************************************** Sound/Music Description: The music is cool, even better than the first. I loved it. Some of the FX were recycled, yes, but they are still totally awesome. Liked: Music fits, The FX fit. Hated: Nothing annoying here. Didn't hate anything. **************************************************************************** Play Control/Game Design: Control is great. Remember, if you press up, Kirby will fill up with air and you can float. You'll wish that it worked on your other games, too, but sorry. As I said earlier before in this review, the gameplay has a softer, more loose feeling in it this time around. Liked: Smooth Controls... Solid. Hated: Nothing to hate. **************************************************************************** Improve: Kirby DX, with Dream Land 1, 2, and 3 in color. (Kirby's Dreamland 3 was for SNES, but it looks like it would be simple enough to translate. It's more like an NES game, with the excuse that the NES was extinct, so they made it on SNES instead.) RIYL: Kirby and his games. **************************************************************************** Final Words: Don't be a dumbarse, go out and get this game! It's astronomically and ergonomically perfect in each and every possible way! You will find it hard to put down, so don't make any plans. **************************************************************************** Score Gameplay: ***** Graphics: ***** Sound/Music: ***** Play Control/Game Design: ***** Personal Opinion: ***** Total: Perfect Final Score: %100 **************************************************************************** Currently Known Codes: EXTRA MODES!
