Ken Griffey Jr. Presents Major League Baseball Game Boy Edition Game by Nintendo Reviewed by Robby Cox koi@magicnet.net Size: 4 megabits Save: Battery with 1 save slot Released: 1997 Works with: all Gameboy versions **************************************************************************** Opening Snide Remarks: KGJMLB looks like a major improvement over all of the other Game Boy baseball games. Then again, it would have to be because all of the Game Boy baseball games that I have played have sucked badly. **************************************************************************** Gameplay Descripion: KGJMLB plays just like any other baseball game. The object of the game is to outscore your opponent during the 9 innings of play. The one area where this game improves on others is batting. Batting is easy due to the fact that the batter is large and he swings correctly. Playing defense os odd due to awkward camera angles that are too close. Liked: Batting. Hated: Fielding. **************************************************************************** Graphics Description: KGJMLB blows away it's Game Boy baseball competition in this area. This game just plain looks great. The players are large and well-detailed. Liked: Large characters. Hated: Nothing. **************************************************************************** Sound/Music Description: KGJMLB has some decent music and some pretty good sound fx. The music will get annoying during the game because it just repeats the same song over and over. Liked: The sound fx. Hated: Repeating music. **************************************************************************** Play Control/Game Design: KGJMLB controls fairly well. The players do what you want them to do when you tell them to. The game has a fatal flaw, though. The on-field camera is too close, which makes you rely on the field radar, but it's not very accurate. This really hinders this game's playability. Liked: Great control. Hated: Horrible on-field camera angles. **************************************************************************** Improve: Better on-field camera angles. RIYL: All-Star Baseball '99, Bases Loaded **************************************************************************** Final Words: If you want a baseball game for your Game Boy, then this game is for you. If you expect a perfect baseball game, then you're better off buying a N64 and All-Star Baseball '99. This game is as good as baseball gets on the Game Boy. **************************************************************************** Score Gameplay: *** Graphics: **** Sound/Music: *** Play Control/Game Design: ** Personal Opinion: *** Total: 15 out of 25 Final Score: 60 % **************************************************************************** Currently Known Codes: Easy Homerun Derby Win When the computer is batting in a homerun derby hold down and B.The computer will then skip its turn and will be stuck with a low score. Note: You must be winning during the 3rd inning and keep the lead for the whole game. Run Faster While you are running rapidly press B to run faster.
