The Lion King Game by Virgin Interactive Reviewed by The Avardancer Size: 2 Megabits Save: None. Released: 1994 Works with: Any Version of Gameboy Opening Snide Remarks: One of the first Disney License games that Capcom didn't produce. Let's see how it turns out.. Gameplay section: The Gameplay in this title really bites the big one. There's a reason for this; and I will address it in the following sections. Graphics: The game has some excellent animation; but the graphics are a little light; even on Super Gameboy. Which I should mention that this game features minimal SGB support. And it still looks awful. The graphics are also small and barely visible. While Simba moves smoothly, everything else is drastically off. The hit detection is off, the jump detection is off, the graphics are cluttered and graphically inferior. Sound: Yuck. the game sounds horrible. The sounds are generic crap. Simba's roar sounds obscenely stupid. Music: The music is actually quite good. With some versions of the movies music. The music is the only thing keeping this game from sinking in the icy water. Play Control: Simba jumps sometimes; and the game really is difficult because of the horrible play control and hit detection. Like I said before, Simba is hard to move. He may over-run or not respond. Shoot, this is bad stuff. Absolutely fetid. Final Analysis: This is a rushed and cruel joke on those who liked the movie. This is one of those times when the license is misused and completely ruined. I got this game from a bargain bin. Was it worth the $10? No. Ignore this sack of crap. It is a dark and sad blemish on the Disney liscense. Capcom should have developed a Lion King game. Virgin Interactive, and Disney Interactive don't seem to know jack about game design. While it is a wee bit more playable on Gameboy Color, not much so.
