The Little Mermaid Game by Capcom Reviewed by The Avardancer Size: 1 Megabit Save: None Released: 1992 Works with: Any version of Gameboy Opening Snide Remarks: Why am I playing this? It's clearly aimed at a crowd that is completely different then me. Oh, well. Here's for the review. Gameplay: Here's the idea. You play as Ariel the Little Mermaid and you must stop Ursula from taking over the whole ocean; by trapping evil creatures in bubbles and throwing them back at other enemies. It has bosses, hidden items, the bubbles can be leveled up to catch larger enemies. and a few challenging parts in a side scrolling action game. The unique thing is that Ariel swims through the levels so there are no jumps. Well, it's really kinda fun. The plot is horrible, though. You have to use strategy to beat the bosses and the game is pretty fun. Capcom has delivered a fantastic game while using a liscense that would suggest otherwise. This game is a very good game and is worth owning. I'm reviewing my sisters copy. I do not own this game. But, I can say that my sister made a very good purchase as this games actually quite fun. As for replay value? There isn't much; but that is okay. Graphics: Ariel looks like Ariel, and there's "cut-scenes" between each level where you can see the other characters from the Disney movie. It's all clear. Sound: Some normal sound effects that fit the action on-screen. Music: A few songs that you will know and a mess of really annoying ones that you won't know. (Or want to know for that matter.) The re-enditions of the Disney tunes are VERy well presented. Play Control: Play Control floats. (It's under-water... duh!) It's responsive and it's easy to pick up and use. Final Analysis: The last level is a maze. There's also a little bit of strategy needed to beat some of the bosses. It's a good game; but many people won't buy it because it's "The Little Mermaid". If you can get past that; then you'll find a very good game. Now, I'm going back to playing a violent testerone-filled fighting game or something.
