Mortal Kombat 2 Game by Acclaim Review by The Avardancer Size: 2 Megabits Save: None. Released: 1994 Works with: Any version of Gameboy Opening Snide Remarks: After the first game failed to achieve a perfect zero. The sequel has a lot to try for. Heh. Heh. Heh. Gameplay: This is Mortal Kombat; but it plays quick, it's fun, it's challenging, the fatalities are there; the game has hidden characters, and the moves are there. Blood isn't in this game. (It would end up being just extra sprites that eat up processor time.) The two moves you need to know are the uppercut, and roundhouse kick. (Down and punch, forward and kick.) With those two moves; you can beat every character. Not to mention that those moves do way too much damage. That's the flaw here. The game gets old fast too. And offers no real Replay value. The Gamelink option is what makes the game though. Graphics: The Backgrounds have been washed over to preserve speed, the animation is smoother though. There's fairly clean digital rendering, and it looks fairly decent. The characters are large. (Size wise, I mean, TALLER.) Sound: There's the same old hits and misses; but they sound a heck of a lot clearer! There's also a cool drum noise that denotes an up-coming fatality. Music: About two songs that are looped forever. Turn down the volume. Play Control: Smoother; not at all trial and error. Fairly responsive; but nothing to tell grandma about. Final Analysis: Does the video game world really NEED Mortal Kombat? Well, if you are a fan; or you just like fighting games; this is a decent purchase; but I wouldn't say that it's a wise purchase. I would stick to Killer Instinct, King of Fighters, Toshiden, or World Heroes 2 Jet. Score: Gameplay: **** Graphics: **** Sound: ** Music: 0 Play Control: **** Total: 14 out of 25 Final Score: 56% Currently Known Codes. None. (Note, there's moves; but they are in the manual. There's also two hidden characters. Try pushing down and start when that guy shows up on the bottom of the screen. Or before you get to the "?" try beating both rounds without blocking or punching. Just kick.)
