Monopoly Game by Tomy Reviewed by Adrock gbcam@hotmail.com Size: 512 kilobits Save: None Released: 1991 Works with: All Game Boys **************************************************************************** Opening Snide Remarks: An electronic Monopoly game is always cool. You don't have all those pieces to lose, no one can cheat, and best of all, since this version is on Game Boy, you can take it with you anywhere! **************************************************************************** Gameplay Descripion: Play is awesome! All of the elements of the NES, SNES, and board games are here. Two player games are possible by using two Game Boys, Three and Four player games are possible by taking turns on one of the Game Boys, or you can play a two player game if you only have one Game Boy. Liked: Cool multiplayer board game, even if passing a Game Boy around the room is un-hip. Hated: Can't play a three or four player game with the adapter. **************************************************************************** Graphics Description: Looks nice, despite screen room problems. You can choose your CPU character from a decorated hall of thier respective portraits. Since the game has a limited palette, it's hard to tell a Baltic Avenue from a Boardwalk. Cool cinema scenes between play, but I thought you should be able to turn them off to speed up the game. Liked: Cinema Scenes, a tidy look. Hated: Limited palette and screen room of the Game Boy conflicts play. **************************************************************************** Sound/Music Description: Nice, swingy little tunes and numbers. But why does it sound like gunshots when you roll the dice? Liked: Music is fun. Hated: Sound FX aren't annoying, but could be enhanced a little. **************************************************************************** Play Control/Game Design: Hey, you won't need your control pad! :) Liked: Just hold A to roll. It doesn't take a genius. Hated: I found getting through the menu systems to be kind of tough. **************************************************************************** Improve: With all the hype about board games (Mario Party, Rugrats) these days, a Game Boy Color version of Monopoly would be nice. You could tell the properties apart. I would also add four player options, and an option to save your progress. RIYL: Other Parker Brothers Board Games on Nintendo. **************************************************************************** Final Words: It's a nice buy, especially if you're a Monopoly freak. **************************************************************************** Score Gameplay: **** Graphics: **** Sound/Music: **** Play Control/Game Design: *** Personal Opinion: *** Total: 18 out of 25 Final Score: %72 **************************************************************************** Currently Known Codes: None.
