Monopoly Game by Parker Brothers Reviewed by Robby Cox koi@magicnet.net Size: 512 Kilobits Save: None Released: 1991 Works with: all Gameboy versions **************************************************************************** Opening Snide Remarks: I was very intrigued by a GB version of the world's most popular board game. I finally broke down and bought it and here's what I thought about it. **************************************************************************** Gameplay Descripion: Have you ever played Monopoly? This version plays pretty much the same. The biggest addition to gameplay is the timed games. You can pick time limits as small as 15 minutes. In the allotted time, you try to amass more money and assets than your opponents. One small gripe is that you can only play against 1 computer opponent, but if there were more then the games would take longer to play. Liked: Timed games. Hated: Nothing. **************************************************************************** Graphics Description: I am very impressed with the graphics of Monopoly. They're very good. The game board is nicely drawn and there's a ton of cool little graphics for certain events. When you hit a Community Chest or Chance space, there's a cool little graphic of the Monopoly guy doing whatever the card talks about. The graphics will surprise you. Liked: Impressive visuals. Hated: Nothing. **************************************************************************** Sound/Music Description: The music in Monopoly is pretty much non-existent. There's some music on the title screen, but none during gameplay. The sound fx are okay but are pretty typical Game Boy fare. Liked: Decent sound fx. Hated: Nothing. **************************************************************************** Play Control/Game Design: Monopoly controls like a dream. It's very simple which is great for videogame novices. The game design is great. The timed games rule!!! Liked: Simple controls. Hated: Nothing. **************************************************************************** Improve: GBC graphics, add some cool background music. RIYL: Mario Party, Twisted (They're the only board games that I could think of.) **************************************************************************** Final Words: Monopoly is a very good game that will impress you. I know that it did me. The gameplay is addictive, thanks to the timed games. I wish this game had a battery so that you could save you game in mid-play. **************************************************************************** Score Gameplay: ***** Graphics: **** Sound/Music: *** Play Control/Game Design: ***** Personal Opinion: **** Total: 21 out of 25 Final Score: 84 % **************************************************************************** Currently Known Codes: None
