Ms. Pac-Man Game by Namco Reviewed by Adrock gbcam@hotmail.com Size: 512 KB Save: No Save Released: 1993 Works with: All Game Boy systems, as so far reported. Opening Snide Remarks: I remember Ms. Pac-Man. You play as a little Pac-Man with a bow that resembles Marilyn Monroe. It's also a faster game if you are playing in the arcade compared to Pac-Man in the arcade. I also remember Tengen's Nintendo version with all the super-cool options and features it had. Well, what about this Game Boy version? Will it suffice? Don't think so. Gameplay: Yeah. It plays as good as Pac-Man GB plays. And that's about all it does. The only new features you will find from the original Pac-Man is little wannabe cinemas, a hard mode, and a Pac-Man with a "hair"bow. Gee whiz. Couldn't they do those nice things that made Ms. Pac-Man on NES great, like varied mazes, a speed button, etc.? Plus, why is it the same cart size as the GB Pac-Man? If it was a meg, with newcool features, that's the only way I would get it over a cheaper Pac-Man, on the same shelf. Graphics: Oh wow. She has a dot on her face. Unless you have it in for Ms. Pac-Man, or you're Johnny Bluejeans on Viva Variety, you're gonna wanna choose Pac-Man, cause these two pacs look the exact same. Sound: I'm not sure if the sound bugs up on a CGB-001, but who cares anyways, there's nothing new to be heard over Pac-Man GB or any of the other console or arcade versions. Waka is still Waka. Music: I like the music in the cinemas. They are catchy. They stand out in my mind. That's still not enough to raise up the Music bar, though. Play Control: Once again, it's nice and responsive! Final Analysis: I'm sorry to diss a game because it's the same as it's prequel, but this is ridiculous. They put out the same game, with a couple new features, and rack up the price. Same way sports games with new rosters do ya. Play NES Ms. Pac-Man by Tengen and see what I mean. They have lots of good features added to that game. But, if it works correctly with CGB-001's sound, it might have a little moreworth. I doubt it, though, these two games run on the same game engine. See my Pac-Man review for more about this game.
