Oddworld Adventures Game by GT Interactive & Saffire Reviewed by Adrock gbcam@hotmail.com Size: 2 Megabits Save: Password Released: Late 1998 Works with: All GB's **************************************************************************** Opening Snide Remarks: I thought it would be like Earthworm Jim from looking at the T.V. commercials. But, it's more like Out of This World, Flashback, and Prince of Persia. **************************************************************************** Gameplay Descripion: The game is like this. You try to get as far as you can through the level. You WILL make mistakes. Especially if you just started playing. But that's what they want you to do. They give you another try. And you learn from the mistake you made last time, avoid it, and move a little further. Bo-ring. At least to me. If you're an absolute fanatic of this trial-and-error kind of platformer, than this is a worthy game. But I'd rather play it on a next-gen console. The story is rather good though. You play as one of the odd looking guys who farts and stuff. He has to try to save his people. The puzzles are weird and the levels are weird. Liked: It's weird. Cool. Hated: Annoying play that only frustrated the heck out of me. **************************************************************************** Graphics Description: The graphics won awards when they were put on PSX and PC. This game looks moderately good as well on GB. Better looking than other games of it's kind. Liked: Pretty nice graphics. Hated: Some stuff is hard to see. **************************************************************************** Sound/Music Description: The music isn't very good. But the sound FX... the... hee hee!! They rock. Liked: Funny sound FX. Hated: Lackluster music, when there is. **************************************************************************** Play Control/Game Design: Slow. It only does half of what you press. You'll find yourself making the same mistakes over and over because of faulty control. Liked: Control is not lifelike, like the programmers supposedly intend it to be. If I jumped like that, I'd get an F in Gym for sure. Hated: A lot. **************************************************************************** Improve: Better controls. They need a new engine of play before they try to make a game like this again. RIYL: Out of this World, Flashback, Prince of Persia. **************************************************************************** Final Words: Fans of the genre will like it a little, but much less than they do the PC and PSX versions. Anyone else, don't get it. **************************************************************************** Score Gameplay: ** Graphics: ** Sound/Music: * Play Control/Game Design: * Personal Opinion: * Total: 5 out of 25 Final Score: %20 **************************************************************************** Currently Known Codes: None. Reviewer's Note: Some of this was recycled from my Prince of Persia review. But I didn't find much difference between the games.
