Pocket Bomberman Game by Hudson/Nintendo Reviewed by Robby Cox koi@magicnet.net Size: 8 Megabits Save: Password Released: 1998 Works with: all Gameboy versions Opening Snide Remarks: I have always liked the Bomberman games. This Bomberman version looks cool and is a Gameboy Color game, to boot. Gameplay: This game is not your standard Bomberman game. This game plays like a cross between Mario and Bomberman. You can jump and set bombs, that's about it. This is a very cool idea that is done pretty well. There's a jump mode that's pretty lame, though. In the Jump Mode, Bomberman continuously jumps while you have to avoid enemies and drop bombs. Graphics: This game has great graphics. Pocket Bomberman was one of the first Gameboy Color games available, and uses the colors very well. Bomberman and his enemies are very large and well-detailed. The backgrounds are nicely drawn and are very colorful. Sound: The sound effects are standard Bomberman. Don't expect extremely loud explosions, though. Music: The music is very nicely done. It does sound like generic videogame music, though. Play Control: This game controls very nicely. The controls are easy to pick up and play. The joypad moves Bomberman, the "A" button drops bombs, the "B" button makes B-man jump and the "Select" button uses the remote control detonator when found. Final Analysis: This is a great game that plays great, looks great, and sounds great. This is by far the best Bomberman game in many years.
