Power Quest Game by Sunsoft Reviewed by Marowak105 Size: 8 megabits Save: Password Released: 1998 Works with: any Gameboy **************************************************************************** Opening Snide Remarks: AM I DOING THIS!??! A FIGHTING game?? They aren't my style! I'm adventure and RPG! At least, till now! Sorry if I make mistakes, I have only had it for short while, and haven't beat the Spring tourney.(Okay, I stink! Whadda ya expect? it's my first fighter!) **************************************************************************** Gameplay Descripion: Fun. Are all fighting games like this? I probably am not as dissapointed in this game as most people because I KNEW it was a FIGHTER, not RPG. Where on the box does it say RPG? Vitality meters & stored points are a good idea, but you can get about 8 points just by doing a projectile over and over even if the opponent avoids or blocks the attack. And contrary to what the manual says, you can guard & counterattack at any point. Passwords take to long to enter, though, and Story Mode takes too long. 1P is good, though. Liked: 1P has no unessesary text, Gives you all the moves from the start, and has multiple rounds. Hated: Story Mode is just the oppisite!! **************************************************************************** Graphics Description: Fast, smooth, and colorful. Neat flashes before you do a Special move. Animation slows down for the final attack. Watch Lon's throw. Ow. Do that enough times and he might rip off the whole ARM! Too bad about the Story Mode again, though. Is the Evil Scientist a Girl? Check out his(her?) hair! Does your mom ever shut her mouth (literally!)? liked: Smooth, clean animation in battles Hated: IS there animation in story mode?! **************************************************************************** Sound/Music Description: Have you played the MegaManX series for the SNES? That sorta music. You only play Game Boy? Okay, picture this: Techno-edged music with Fear, Power, adventure, Rush, and... SOMEthing else you can't describe... You'll know what I mean when you hear it. Sound? Well, robots don't go WHUMP if you hit 'em, They go KINK or CLANG. Took game manufacturers long enough: Robots make robot sounds in this game. They even did Reptilian tongues correct! Liked: Why are there so few games with MMX-style music? It ROCKS! Why is this sorta stuff hard to find? Oh well, Power Quest does good. Hated: You never hear the best parts of the songs. Either you go where you want immedietly, someone wins a battle before the timer reaches 50, whatever:They put MUCH different parts of the songs at the END, where you don't hear them! **************************************************************************** Play Control/Game Design: Nothing to master here: Manual tells you the moves, so no guess work is required. Charchters do what you press, when you press...But there is a VERY short amount of time useable to perform Specials. Liked: Like I said: What you press, when you press. Hated: I'm too slow to press specials in. Areial moves are tricky to time. **************************************************************************** Improve: Use Save files, not Passwords! Make something worth-while in story mode. And add 2 or 3 more characters. RIYL: I told you: I don't know fighting! But I WILL tell you you'll like no matter what your game type is. If you aren't into fighting, don't worry! It starts easy. And if you ARE, then I GUESS 1P after about 20 fights can get taxing. **************************************************************************** Final Words: I like Lon the best. Speed is second. You need to get used to ALL the robot's styles: I have killed myself trying to use Lightn.K (one of Lon's specials) with Axe! **************************************************************************** Score Gameplay: * * * * Graphics:* * * * & a half Sound/Music: * * * * * Play Control/Game Design: * * * * * Personal Opinion: * * * * * Total: 23 & a half Final Score: 94% **************************************************************************** Currently Known Codes: None.
