Shadowgate Classic Game by Kemco Reviewed by DeathPunk E-Mail: deathpunk@yahoo.com Save: 3 save slots!! Released: 1999 Works with: all Opening Snide Remarks: Wow!! A gothic text adventure set in a castle. I know it's been done a thousand times before, but hey , it's made by Kemco. Gameplay: Hit or miss gameplay. It really pisses you off when you have 50 items in your inventory, are trying to solve a puzzle, and the most logical item there doesn't work. Also this type of gameplay really takes away from the replay value of the game, Because when you know what to do to get past something it's the same item the next time. While the whole point and click interface is cool and all, and it really makes you think alot [which is good for a change], there really just isn't much to the game.:( Graphics: Also hit or miss!! Looks REALLY good, but nothing has any animations! But it does give a nice gothic feel, while retaining an E rating. But they should of just gone the whole 9 and made this a horror adventure :) This type of game would be a perfect canidate for that!! Sound: There really isn't many sound effects. But the majority of them, like the lighting and door sounds, are very nice. Music: The music in my opinion really sets the mood!! Dark, brooding, gothic tunes!!! It really does fit this game well:) Play Control: The GB's control pad works Surprizingly well. Although it can't compare to the control a mouse would give you in this kind of game, it rarely messes up badly. Final Analysis: Although I REALLY do like this game, It just doesn't have much replay value at all. Once you've beaten it, you'll have absolutly NO reason to ever play it, AGAIN. But the game is very emersive, and before you beat it'll most likely be your favorite game. Sooooo.. If you like thinking, rpgs and games with almost impossible puzzles.... you're shadowgate material. Score Gameplay:**** Graphics:***** Sound:** Music:***** Play Control:**** Total: 20 out of 25 Final Score: 80% Currently Known Codes: When you want to move or look , just hit B button. It's supposed to only cancel commands, but it also puts it into a LOOK and MOVE dual mode, that saves a little time:)
