Super R.C. Pro-Am Game By: Rare/Nintendo Reviewed By: jphunt jphunt@mail2.caninet.com Size: 512 Kilobits Save: None Released: 1991 Works with: All Gameboys Opening Snide Remarks: More of a remix than a sequel to the original 8-bit Pro-Am, but it does provide a new experience since this one is 4-player, mind you that finding four people with four Gameboys....(you should know the rest of this) :). ---------- Gameplay: Traditional Pro-Am. A good game to play since it's not just a common racer since you can attack the opposition (don't you just love to blow stuff up). Upgrades can also be found on the track, as well as bonus letters that will get you a better R.C car. Being able to play against others is a great addition to the game. Liked: Good variety, multiplayer. Hated: Little variety from past titles. The constant repitition due to the lack of a save or password features really kills the game. ---------- Graphics: Good attention to track detail, especially in obstacles, but some things such as weapons and upgrades are a little hard to see, especially if your getting a bad reflection on the Gameboy screen. Vehicles are rather simple but have no animation, it looks like the track is moving rather than the cars. Liked: True to the original. Hated: Hard to see in some conditions. ---------- Sound/Music: Music has a good feel and fits the game, though there is no music during races. Sound fits, you'll know when you pick up an item or when you hit something. The engine reving can be a little tedius after a couple of tracks though. Liked: Clear, you'll know you picked up something if you didn't see it. Hated: Engine noise is a bit annoying. ---------- Play Control/Game Design: Control is a bit sensitive when cornering light tapping is a good strategy to overcome this. Everything else is pretty much standard as far as racing games goes. Liked: Good feel, the car responds according to what upgrades its has. Hated: Cornering is the key, bad cornering equals game over. ---------- Improve: A password or save feature should have been included so your not racing the same track over an over. RIYL: It's a good game but if you've played the original you've played this. ---------- Final Words: Play this game against some friends, this is where it shines. ---------- Score Gameplay: **** Graphics: **** Sound/Music: *** Play Control/Game Design: *** Personal Opinion: **** Total: 18 Final Score: 72% ---------- Currently Known Codes: None
