Tamagotchi Game by Bandai/Nintendo Reviewed by Adrock gbcam@hotmail.com Size: 4 Megabits Save: Battery, 1 Slot Released: 1997 Works with: Any version of Gameboy. **************************************************************************** Opening Snide Remarks: If you have a virtual pet, then you know how this game goes. You have to take care of a little pet with weird shapes. It's not Pokemon, but it's still kind of cool. It takes a village to raise a child, and a pair of batteries to raise a Tamagotchi. **************************************************************************** Gameplay: There's a lot more to Game Boy Tamagotchi then the little keychain eggs. There are classes, new lifeforms, and other stuff.. there are even game secrets. What you do is, you choose your Tama's egg, then raise them to full adults. You can hatch three eggs at one time, and name each one (I named mine after none other then the 3 Beastie Boys). You can turn music on for your Tama. Of course, your Tamas can't grow if your game is off... So you can't hatch an egg in 2nd hour, and find it has grown when you turn the game back on in 4th hour. Liked: A cool game with a lot more things to do then the little eggs. Hated: An in-built clock would of made the game more cool. Otherwise, you'll just have to leave your Game Boy on in your backpack or your pocket. **************************************************************************** Graphics Description: This game is really hilarious. If your Tama was having way too much fun when you turned it off, you will turn the game on, to find nothing there... But then, it will pop out of nowhere, with a big smile on it's face. There are lots of funny animations that your Tama does, and you'll have to raise different kinds of pets to see them all. It also looks great on Super Game Boy. I've never seen a game that looks so great on SGB, besides maybe DKL. Liked: Everything. It's the funniest game on Game Boy. Hated: Nothing. This game is perfect. **************************************************************************** Sound/Music Description: Loads of happy tunes. None of them are truly gut-wrenchingly annoying. Liked: Nice tunes. And if you hate them, you can turn some of them off. Hated: I don't hate em. **************************************************************************** Play Control/Game Design: The menu systems are easier to navigate then the little eggs. Liked: Nice menu systems are easy to navigate. Hated: Wish you could always skip the clock ahead. **************************************************************************** Improve: Make one with a clock in it. RIYL: Pokemon, or the little virtual pet eggs. **************************************************************************** Final Words: It really sucked that this game doesn't have an in-built clock. I'm afraid that's minus points in gameplay. I got this game for a really cheap price. My choice was either an egg or the game (same price). So I got the game so I can do a review. Really I think the eggs have strongpoints, and so does the game, and they are about the same in value. **************************************************************************** Score Gameplay: *** Graphics: ***** Sound/Music: **** Play Control/Game Design: ***** Personal Opinion: **** Total: 21 out of 25 Final Score: %84 **************************************************************************** Currently Known Codes: Flush it!: When your Tamagotchi is squirming because of you-know-what hit the duck button and an animation will appear with the Tamagotchi on a toilet. This doesn't work on the first forms though. Music Mode: Just fill up the roster of Tamagotchi Records; or get a Tamagotchi to lay in egg to get this option. It's a great Sound Test.
