Tetris 2 Game by Nintendo Reviewed by Adrock gbcam@hotmail.com Size: 2 megabits Save: None Released: 1993 Works with: Any Game Boy **************************************************************************** Opening Snide Remarks: Tetris 2? How could they do better than the original? Well, it's a whole new experience now. Let's take a look. **************************************************************************** Gameplay Descripion: It plays like a mix between the original Tetrisand that mildly popular Dr. Mario. You play with the original Tetris shapes (plus a couple new ones) with different colors of blocks, and you must clear them in rows of at least 3. There are flashing little circle things that you must clear to finish the level. There is a one player mode, two player mode, normal mode, puzzle mode, or Vs. Com mode. It's not really Tetris at all, but actually a whole new puzzle experience in itself. It's really a lot of fun. Liked: A cool new experience for Tetris veterans. Hated: I don't think you can really call it a "sequel" to Tetris, it's more of a Dr. Tetris or something. **************************************************************************** Graphics Description: The menus and stuff have more detail than Tetris. The blocks are easy to see, and they aren't hard on the eyes. Liked: Really easy to look at. :) Hated: Nothing really. **************************************************************************** Sound/Music Description: There are three new soundtracks for you to listen to while you you play. The sound FX keep everything totally awesome. One of the FX sounds like Super Mario Bros. 3 when Mario changes into a raccoon. Cool. Liked: New cool sound. Hated: Nothing. **************************************************************************** Play Control/Game Design: The control, like many Nintendo puzzlers, is easy to pick up. Sliding your blocks under at the last minute is even easier than it was in Tetris. Liked: Nice, easy controls. Hated: Requires some planning. **************************************************************************** Improve: Color. RIYL: Tetris, Dr. Mario. **************************************************************************** Final Words: It's a completely different experience from anything you have played on Nintendo. Why they put the name "Tetris" on it, I have no idea. But, it is pretty cool. Just give it some time. **************************************************************************** Score Gameplay: ***** Graphics: ***** Sound/Music: **** Play Control/Game Design: **** Personal Opinion: **** Total: 22 out of 25 Final Score: %88 **************************************************************************** Currently Known Codes: None.
