Wave Race Game by Nintendo Reviewed by Robby Cox koi@magicnet.net Size: 2 megabits Save: Battery-1 save slot Released: 1992 Works with: all Gameboy versions Opening Snide Remarks: I absolutely love Wave Race on the N64. I just hope the Game Boy version is worth my money. Gameplay: Wave Race is basically a jetski racing game. The point is to finish the race before the opposition can. There is a championship mode, a salom mode, and a versus mode included in the game. Graphics: The graphics in Wave Race are pretty good. The races are shown from an overhead perspective, which is a pretty good choice. The jetskis are small enough that you can see a good portion of the track at all times. Sound: The sound effects in Wave Race are very good. The engine sound of the jetskis is excellent, but the sound of your turbo meter being low is very annoying. Music: There's very little music in Wave Race. The only music heard in the game is located on the opening screens and between races. There is NO (!!) music played while you race. Play Control: The control in Wave Race is pretty good. You can maneuver, accelerate, and turbo boost, but that's all that you can do. The controls are simple to learn but tough to master. Final Analysis: Wave Race is a pretty good racing game, but it is nowhere near as good as the N64 game of the same game. If you need a racing game or better yet need a water-based racing game, then I would suggest this game.
